KiloXray,

My apologies, sir.

Quinn spoke of the V-Curve as it relates to the 6HV-U.

I found his comments to be interesting and I responded.

I was in the original group of testers for the 6HV-U and mine is set up as I described.

No worries! It's not that I am disinterested, quite the contrary. I was just hoping to see that stuff in its own thread. I imagine more people would participate there and it would be an even more info filled thread.

Cheers!

My Castle Edge 80HV came in today!

I also received an order from Progressive with my EC5 connectors, a balance board, and a Mean Well 1000W power supply to run the 306b I have.

I doubt many people are going to look in this 6HVU build thread for that type of info. Can we take it to its own thread please?
My bad actually. Started getting off subject when the low headspeed single 6s pack setup was mentioned.

Satellites came in today!

Only 2 more boxes to go. One with the heli and servos and the other with my batts. Both are in the mail on their way. Hopefully they will show up next week. At least the heli and servos box, so I can start building.

I've hit my first hurdle.

I ordered six Revolectrix 3300mah 40C batts. I am a military member stationed in Germany and only have an APO address. I had them shipped to my mom's house in the states because Revolectrix will not ship to an APO. The idea was that she was going to send them to me at my APO.

The batteries came in and my mom went to ship them to me, but the USPS is telling her that shipping Lipo batteries to an APO is not allowed. I did some research and it turns out that this is correct, it is indeed only allowed if the Lipo is "installed or shipped with" the item that it powers.

Needless to say my Revolectrix batteries are not being shipped with the heli, and cannot be sent to my APO. I am not going to ask my mom to lie and say that it is some other item (she wouldn't do it anyway) in order to mail them regardless, so I am kinda stuck here.

This is an interesting development because I know for a fact that some companies will ship Lipo batteries direct to an APO. I have received Lipo at my APO from more than one vendor. I really wanted to try the Revolectrix but it looks like that just isn't going to happen.

At this point it looks like I am going to have to sell the Revolectrix batteries to someone in the states and have my mom just ship them to that person. I will then have to go ahead and order some batteries from one of the vendors that I know will ship directly to me at my APO.

Anyone have any other ideas? Unless someone here has any other brilliant plans for me to not take the sales loss on the Revolectrix and get them here instead, I'm gonna have to move forward with that plan soon.

Try a different carrier like Fed-Ex (Revo uses) or UPS.
Both should offer services for LiPo.

From what I can find in my research, those are no-go's as well. Shipping in the air internationally can only be accomplished if the shipper (almost always a company that ships lipos quite regularly, like revolectrix) has a "dangerous goods contract" with the carrier. A single person shipper cannot "legally" ship via air internationally, unless they are VERY small lipos.

Huh that sucks.
Anyway the military can get them to you, maybe in one of their shipments?

Hi KiloXray,

there's an online shop in Holland which sells the revolectric lipo's, maybe you can contact the shop and ask if they can ship to you in Germany. Here's the link to the shop and lipo's :

http://www.rigidheli.com/Webwinkel-C...volectrix.html

Grtz,
Dirk

Have you found a place to fly?
Glad you decided on a 6HVU!

No sir. The .mil doesn't get involved in that sort of thing.

I checked them out and Rigidheli wants DOUBLE the $$ than I paid for them direct from Revolectrix. That is absurd. To me this is not a valid option, not even close.

I sure did. There is official field about 40 mins south of me, and there is piece of land I can fly on about 2 miles from my house!

That's good to hear. Throw the 300x in the trunk and fly when you get a chance. Did you find our if Germany has any transmitter restrictions?

Nope. I don't know about that yet. I'll message you if I ever find out.

I'm just now starting to get settled so I haven't flown much. That should be starting to change very shortly. The shipment with my 450 showed up about a week ago so I have 2 to fly for now.

The 6HV Ultimate is in today!!!

I am still rocking garbage pay as you go, cell tethering, internet until mid feb so I am unable to upload pics. I am taking lots of pics, and will post them later.

Anyway, the build will probably commence tonight!

I still do not have a solution to my battery issue. I did in the mean time order a set of Pulse batts (3300, 45C) just to get things going.

The build has begun! I'm moving along slowly for sure. This being my first build I am probably being overly anal. I've also been sick all weekend and haven't had much time.

I do already have a couple of questions.

1) in step #2, the manual talks about greasing the dampeners but I cannot seem to figure out how to get the spindle shaft out. I tapped it with a hammer even, but got zero movement.

2) in step # 22 the manual says to use servo arms that have 16 & 18mm "hole distance". I am using the ProTek 250 servos and the horns they come with (at the furthest hole) have a hole distance of 15mm. Is this going to work ok with the SK540?

Thanks guys!

Step 1: I had a hard time taking mine out too I used some grease and a spindal wrench I had to twist and pull but I got it out.(don't think a hammer is the right tool )Then I greased the crap out of it, shoved hard and got it back in.

For the spindle removal you will just have to be creative. Everyone comes up with their own method. A spindle wrench is a great help for sure.

Don't know about the sk540 but your cyclic's should be at 17mm.
