Dont know if someone still visit this tread. I got my 72mhz module (Japan) modded to American yesterday.
I flow the 93c46 off the module and program it with programmer, the code is slightly different, instead of 00 07 00 00 00 .... , it is 07 00 00 00 00.... I change it to 07 81 00 00 00... , now its american module with all 72mhz channel enabled

Default Homebrew module

Sorry for the necropost but with the demise and small quantities produced of the DMS9 MZ Speckrum modules I have been looking for a substitute to allow DSM2 protocol transmission.

Turns out its possible to use the older style Futaba or the newer JR DSM9 module thru the buddy box port to get this functionality. So I have one coming next week.

Also I would like to be able to use all my modules from the 8U family and further, dont want to velcro them on. So the plan is to 3D print copies of the module shell and use that as a base to mount 8U style modules.
In the case of the Speckrum module, they actually were designed to use the buddy box port so the module shell would just be a way to secure the Speckrum module.
For the others, I would add to the shell, a connector to receive the 10 pin header, an EEPROM and a header to plug into the 8U modules. By making the shell for this one include a 8U style module cavity, it would all just snap together and I'd need only one 8u style base/shell.

Seems to me now that there is going to be a multi protocol module from Banggood ($46)which supports most of the popular small chinese helicopter protocols, all the Futaba ones and others this would be very appealing to you guys. My idea would let you just plug in, select protocol and fly.

So first off read this thread I'm not exactly sure but seems I would just need the USA area and those 8x codes that let it work with any modules, correct?
