Difference between Align 425F and 425D??
Does anybody know the difference between the Align 425F and 425D blades? They look the same and all of the specifications listed on Align's website are the same. The price is different and they took the time to make different boxes so I assume something has to be different

Looking at both pictures I noticed one set has one rod running through it and the other has two rods. What that means, I don't know.

1st, the rods are actualy weights,
however, altough there are two weights, the overall weight seems to be the same (120 grams). so my guessing is that the diff, is the CG of the blade. i.e. the CG is more to the ends of the blades. ohh, and another thing - the F are blue . now, have look at https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=87675 |

the F's are big chunky power-hungry blades and will slow your cyclic down a lot.
They will be very good for auto's though. Go for the D's

Isn't one set foam core and the other wood?
Edit: nevermind. Only tried and crashed on the D's.

Here's some search results for these two blades together in this T-Rex 500 forum. I have only used the Fs so I can't compare them to the Ds. One of these days I'll have to give them a try.

I would try these. The set I ordered were great,, perfect balance no tape required plus they are on sale.

A few months ago I was experimenting with a flybarless 500 and I wanted the heaviest, most tip weighted blades I could find. I compared the weights and CG of both theses blades with the other align blade (in the link right above) and two other brands of 500 blades. The blue 425F align blades were the most tip weighted of any I had and weighed slightly more than the others too. At least that was the case with the ones I had. The blue 'F' blade also seemed slightly more flexible than the align blade (in the link right above) that I'd been flying.
I still haven't flown the 425D's but the CG is more inward toward the root than the 'F' blade. |

so, maybe the d's are more 3d oriented and can flip faster cuz the weight is closer to the center of the rotating mass, kinda similiar in to the theory of adding flybar weights on a 450?

What I find really odd here is that the manufacturer clearly had these blades designed by someone who knew what they were doing. At least, I hope so! Then instead of giving the buyer these details, they leave us to speculate with guesses such as wood core, foam core, 3D, not 3D, heavier, lighter, etc, etc. Strange way of doing business. So my question is - has anyone got manufacturer's answers on the differences? Align are terrible at responding to mails.

I fly both. They are both awesome as for 3-d etc..or just flying the pattern. Buy whatever is on sale, or whichever one looks better to you.

You know, that just recently happened to me. I've had 3 sets of F blades. The first pair balanced and tracked perfect. The set I bought some months later required a little tape to balance, and I could never get them to track perfectly, but close enough to fly. The last set, I could not get them to track no matter what I did. I wasted a good flying day messing with them, and then put on a set of the regular Align white carbons and went flying. I think I'm done with the 425Fs.
They did fart nice and loud though. Al
