I don't think you can use your own radio on Real Flight....
Plenty of discussion on this topic in the forums if you search around. Short answer: they both have their strengths and weaknesses, but overall each gets the job done fairly well. No overall clear winner for all categories. Also, there is AeroFly. Think about what you liked and didn't like when you used Phoenix. Folks can answer if those things are better or not in Real Flight. Then you'll know if it's worth switching for you.

There is a way, you need a SimStick and the Real Flight controller that come in the package, you plug in the RF controller and leave it on the floor...
You can use your own Tx with RF, but you can't avoid buying the RF package with the bundled controller. http://www.simstick.co.uk/realflight...lator_inst.php

I'm a total noob but this is my thought's about it,
before i got my heli i was training in Phoniex, but after i got it phoniex felt so easy.. not as my real heli , but RF? felt great! exactly the same ! give them both try, phoniex is way better in graphics and features, but i still think RF win. |

Phoenix way better than real flight IMO. Real flight is extremely hard to use your own transmitter, no setup wizard really sucks they try to force people to use their transmitters for copyright reasons.
I have both I didn't like RF it had a crap selection of models no updates for free and seemed like it was full of planes and hardly any heli's. And heli's that were there well didn't recognize almost any. |

IMHO, phoenix, You can really tweek it to fly almost like you heli. I practiced for months and said the same thing ( wow this is easy ). That being said i got a hold of captJac and his flight school, He walked me thru the sim and we tweeked it out.Once that was done completely diffrent heli ( wow not so easy )

For me the big determining factor was the free upgrades to major releases without having to buy the next version over and over again. The ease with which I cold use my own Tx was a factor as well. It seems as though, physics wise, they are very close and has been already said, there are many parameters that can be adjusted in Phoenix to make any model fly close to your own in real life.
Just my opinion... Jim |

They are very close in feel I have both, Phoenix wins for better models many trex's I fly are there. Free updates, works great with my own transmitter (big plus for me), easy setup.

Easy question, easy answer.
Phoenix for cost, and horizon planes. Realflight for everything else. Phoenix V4 made a big improvement in the physics quality, v3 was crap IMO. V4 is much better, however they still missed the ball with inertia modeling. The models fly like they are weightless. Realflight nailed the physics dead on, I can go from the Rave ENV in RF6 straight to my Rave ENV, without skipping a beat. So Phoenix for affordability, Realflight for quality.

Which version of RF? I own and rf6 and Phoenix (latest version). No comparison, Realflight by miles.

Rf6 is what I flew. To me rf felt numb I the physics didn't seem right. The helis in Phoenix just fly ad respond like the real thing to me. Nothing against rf, it's just a preference
