I just wanted to show the quick trick to transferring the bearings on the front umbrella gear to the replacement (which actually starts at 4:18). I'm sure most people know this, but if you don't you're doing it the hard way.

Also might be a decent video to watch if you're thinking about getting a 450 Pro and you're wondering just how hard it is to change the TT and/or TT bearings from an accidental tail touch....

Well, here it is. Sorry for being kind of long-winded (and monotonous)

I also wanted to note that I shot the video with a $15 keychain camera (check it out on the main forum: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=172225) I plan to try it out as both an onboard and hat cam for some flight videos.

Also, sorry about so much being off screen or on the top edge of the screen. I thought I had the camera pointed a little closer to the center of the table, but I was a little off and I wasn't going to redo it.

Thanks a lot ken, that's really what i need, i don't have a PRO yet but am getting one. And i'm really not good in fixing these things especially the TT cus it's gonna be my first TT tail heli, your vid will be a lot of help to me and other new TT heli owners.

I did that within 10 minutes. I hate to tell this that I crashed even before it's airbrone..After finished the assembly, I tested and because there was no head, the tail was heavy than the head without battery strap, and the tail stroke to the table (no main or tail blade...etc) and it looks like I had tt gear front or back damaged. I checked and found the front damage. It was 11pm Sunday, I went to bed.

my job is 9-6pm and I'm vanpool rider southern ca to Pico Blvd, Beverly Hills Los Angeles (the most traffic free ways in the world) and I have to get out the house at 7:15am morning. I got everything ready to leave the house, it was 7am, I thought I could fix the tail, removed screws for 2mins, removed whole tail set/boom/block 2 mins, 3 mins for replacing the front tt gears and assembled it back, 2 mins to re-assemble the who tail set LOL

it was 10 min

I have a question for those using the black TT. Like I said in the video, I've never used the black TT, but I know they always shear in the same spot near one end. I was just thinking that if it were to shear in the back at the tail case, that after removing the boom from the block and the long portion of the TT w/ bearing, you could probably just shake/tap on the boom/tail case to get the little end of the TT to fall out from the inside of the rear umbrella gear. Does that actually work? Or would you have to take the tail case off to get to it?

I don't know..........seems like they slide in very easily so my guess is that a light tap or two would make it fall out.

Yeah, that's what I was assuming, but I have never done it and I had mentioned it in the video...

Sorry great vid..I just wish i knew to upgrade this heli before it got built as far as these Damn lil f in screws......

...I guess no matter what ya buy these days.Theres always a upgrade

I stripped 4 screw on one side (all screw of bearing block and I found they are over tighten by manufacturer assembly. And I don't worry them as much if the next crash breaks the frame, I will destroy both side and rebuild all for $30 buck * 2 side aiframe 450 pro Ebay Ebay Ebay!

Beside I just ordered RCScrewZ kit for 450 Pro! They confirmed the kit has all socket head hex screw, not button head so if it's stripped, we still can use piler to unscrew it!!

I have the RC screws... best money I ever spent! They won't strip out, and even if they did, you can get them out with pliars... I wish I would have known about the RC screws when I built my TREX!

Good first video! Well done.

Only comment I will make is while this will work on the 450 Pro because the umbrella gear doesn't fit that tight into the inner races of the 2 bearings, tapping out the umbrella gear in this way may not hurt the bearings. But do not do this on say a 600 or 700. The bearings fit very tightly on those helis and taping out the umbrella gear in this way could damage the bearings causing them to be notchy. Proper bearing removal requires the inner race of the bearings to be supported in some way. Again on the 450 Pro this is not really an issue as they don't fit that tightly.

In either case if you tapped it out in this way just check the bearings anyway and make sure they are not notchy feeling. If they are, replace them and put them on to the umbrella gear by pushing on the inner race not the outer race.

You guys all want this as a sticky?
