Anyone have any advice on how to get this board to properly spin up these sr tail motors?
I thought that Blade SR runs on 3s Lipo?
If power is the problem, i think that you could use NPN-transistor as a switch to power these SR-tail motors

Are they spinning at all??? As said before maybe they require more voltage

So in theory, I would connect ground as usual then put the positive motor lead from the board to the base leg of the transistor, then a 3s lipo to the collector leg, and the motor positive to the emitter leg? If I am way off please correct me lol

My memory is that this is a common collector (voltage follower) configuration for an NPN transister, in which case, the voltage across the motor will be slightly less than the voltage to the transister base (voltage from the board to the base). So not much voltage to the motor.

Which circuit will work is complicated:
It will depend on whether the board output to a motor is active low or active high. I do not have an mQX yet, so I do not know.
One way to test: There are 2 leads to connect a brushed motor to the mQx board.
One lead will be to some transister or MOSFET. The other will be to +V or -V.
Do you know if the +V/-V lead is at +V (when active, the other lead will connect to -V) or -V (when active, the other lead will connect to +V)?
This will determine whether you need an PNP transister or NPN transister, respectively. In either case, one would probably use a common emitter configuration: base to the motor lead of the board (only about 0.7V drop across the base circuit, so use a resister inbetween the base and board to limit the current running through the transister),
collector to the motor lead, and
emitter to the appropriate supply voltage.

Instead of a PNP or NPN transister, using a P-channel or N-channel MOSFET may be better: possibly less voltage drop across the device when on, and
will not use-up too much current from the board (but may need a pull-up or pull-down resister).

Later: I forgot: a common emitter (for MOSFET, common source) circuit inverts things, so you may need to switch which supply voltage a motor connects to and also switch leads on the motor to keep it spinning in the same direction. This will be messy.

Sorry for the mess, but I do not have a mQx yet, so cannot take the measurements to tell you which option will work.

I didnt like the "struts" I had made so I fixed it with velcro and put it on an angle towards the front flying in 'X' mode

Highest output I have used is the hp05 but im sure it can handle more.. Its the same as the helimax tail esc, but helimax has specs on their unit if you want to know its ratings check out their site...

Here are a few pics of my Gaui skids mod.
2012-02-08_20-16-48_607.jpg

I use a rubber band around the mounting pegs to secure the battery.
2012-02-08_20-34-46_337.jpg

Here you can see how I have trimmed away the stock landing stands.
2012-02-08_20-20-35_834.jpg

There is plenty of clearance beneath for cameras, or sidewinder missiles.
2012-02-08_20-18-05_898.jpg

The gyro sponge has held well, and will serve to dampen vibration better. Also the wire upgrade to the motors should save my FETs.
2012-02-08_20-35-28_905.jpg

There will be no mistaking which mQX is mine at the local fly-ins.

I want those props! Does it flip pretty well? I know you mentioned in the video thread that they were a bit heavier than stock. You think you lose a little bit of agilty?

If so that really isn't terrible anyway they look cool as hell and I would imagine would make it a bit more stable for those looking do do some key chain cam videos.

Since as of now, hes the only one with optional canopies available, I went and purchased MIA Style C canopy for my MQX.
I will report back when I recieve it and post pics.

I wouldve purchased from somebody else, but I wanted something now.
