I'm not sure you'll get 1900 with enough headroom on the Jive and a 12T. Probably around 1850/1860 @ 65% if your kV is close to 450. I get about 2030/2040 @ 64% on HJ with 520kV (4525UE).

Well, I'll be very happy if it's snappy enough at lower speeds than that, so I'll just feel it out and see what works. Mr Mels calculator shows 1894 at 70% on the Jive, so it should be able to do it at least at the beginning of the flight, but it's just going to be a matter of finding the sweet spot and I'll try some different blades etc. I'm looking forward to it!

It's been a bit quiet lately... here's my latest mod to improve the looks. I'm pretty sure it'll fly better cos It just so happens that I also save 50g

I like it. A big push lately seems to be ultra minimalist landing gear... between the little "coat hangar" struts on speed fuselages or the fish fins on the new TDS, the high performance machines are slowly ditching the clunky wide struts.

Thanks mate. Myself, not a big fan of the coat hanger type - to me it makes the full fuse looks like a tadpole.

The new TDS seems to follow the same fish fins trend, and using the frame / canopy as the third leg in a tripod style LG.

Yeah, the little aerodynamic fin landing gear setup on the TDS is definitely unique... well, that entire machine is unique. Linear drive servos? Yes please.

But the low profile struts are nice. I always preferred the carbon skids from the 90N to the plastic high rise ones on the FAIFA, personally.

I like it! Looks slick like that. What did you use for mounting the rear legs? Is it the Srimok N landing gear parts?

I used the Goblin Speed LG which comes as two parts... total of $29 from helidirect.

The Alu LG brace itself is only $16!!! Much cheaper than trying to CAD up and CNC yourself.

The CF legs is flat 4mm CF, cross-section looks like it was made up of 4x 1mm CF plates. At $13 it was worth a first go, but the beauty is that with a simple 2 bolt attachment to what is nothing more than flat CF plate cut to a shape, you can make up your own designs !

The Alu brace is for +/- 58mm frame width, while Kasama's width is 22.2mm of 7/8". In the end I went with removing the centre bits, and going with a pretty strong half-lap joint offset from the centre, 3 bolts, and JB weld as gap filler and threadlock. To be honest, even one bolt was strong enough through testing.

Here's a link to the thread where I got some ideas from good folks.

http://www.archeli.com.au/forums/sho...55#post1589055

It's very strong - perhaps too strong. I might make up thinner 3mm legs later on. Or I might just file a deep groove as a slight weakness midway under the current legs to that a very hard landing will snap the legs and not the frame.

I've been meaning to swop some servos around for a while now and I finally moved a set of MKS HBL to my Faifa. I was concerned about the large size of the MKS but I only had to use some Mikado servo spacers on the elevator (to move it back). It's clean and neat and I'm happy with the result. I also want to install a VX1 in the Faifa soon because I really like the Spartan's performance and I want a split sensor setup to clean up the wiring.

Almost clones, thefrog! Also, a chance to use my new F 1.8 lens.

Wow, that is very neat. I really want to go back to a split system setup so I can get it cleaned up like you have it. I can't stand the mess of wires and difficult routing around the boom.

Thanks. Yeah, the satellite sensor makes things pretty clean, given a few hours with shrink wrap, zip ties, and a glass or two of Lagavulin.

Right now it's a little more complex as I have a smartswitch on the other side with a 2s dedicated pack for the HV servos. It seems much more robust than the 6v rail from the 120HV BEC. I wish I had the new Jive pro with 8v, but oh well. That's just being picky.

All I really want is a helical main and crown gear, past that it's just time to sit on my hands and see what the Faifa 2.0 will look like.

I have a VX1 on the Dune and the sensor fits perfectly on the small gyro platform. I just updated it to version 3 firmware (I actually was liking it before but I had to update the Datapod in order to update my other one and then I realised that once the Datapod was updated it would no longer communicate with the VX1 on the Dune so I had to update it as well.)

My Faifa has the same (probably more) messy wiring as I'm using a Total-G on it.

Compared to previous, she looks better. Cleaner, sleeker, and just sexy.

This is fully loaded with 12S lipos (nicely hidden away).

Just curious as customers often ask, but I haven't used it.

@rchelijc: where did you get the black canopy?
Your landing strut mod looks cool and slink but for practical reasons I have to say I like the normal ones. much more forgiving during autos and you can slide your heli if need be. Never the less good job with the aluminum adapter blocks.

After 5 years I still like to fly my Faifa very much! It is stable, precise and the power to weight ratio is perfect for that size.
