Default Tail rotor position

Does having the tail blade axis in the same plane as the main rotor improve flight characteristics?

Some say that it reduces the lean necessary in a hover, but they don't know what they're talking about.

I don't think so either. I have the angled transmission set on my Trex 500 FPV/AP ship, but only to keep the tail rotor out of the grass.

It might do that, but it certainly does introduce tail->cyclic coupling which is undesirable for 3D flight (not really a big deal for scale like, especially with FBL units). As the tail rotor is now above the centre of mass (ideally it should be on the same plane.

That's not a bad point.
