Default Retract alignment

https://www.helifreak.com/attachment...1&d=1403531035

Original landing gear is not centered on the CG front to back. Therefore the model is expected to tip backwards more easily. This is not a problem when landing gear is only 5,5cm high.

I plan to install S800 retract set to a t-rex 700 AP ship. The retract 36cm high when open. Should I install it centered on the heli CG?

Let me know what you think.
Ahmet

The LG is forward of the CG so when you do a skidding landing during autos etc the heli won't tip forward. If you don't plan on doing skidding landings then just make the LG symmetric about the CG

Thanks Jolly.
On a pod and boom heli a CG centered landing skid would look very silly too.

With underslung mount and retracts, landings (and even take offs) have to be executed in total control, very smooth and surface has be level.

I think they install the landing gear forward of the CG to ensure sales of torque tube drive parts.

Default comments and opinions pls

Hi folks,
it looks straight forward(and simple) but took me a while to put it together to my satisfaction. Please check the photos of this AP ship with retracts and let me know what you think before it flies.
Thanks,
Ahmet
