Default Finally kept her in the air a full battery

After sooo many crashes, and repairs that cost too much, I kept my 120 SR flying for a full battery with no crashes, and a nice set down on my board.
I never thought I would be able to fly that thing, it was so hard getting her too not get out of control..
So really , thank all of you here on HeliFreak for good advice. "Keep Practicing" It works.
Good to be here with good people

Excellent

I know the feeling. It took me about 4 weeks to keep The Spawn in the air.

Way to go Tommy. Nothing is more exhilarating than a great confidence booster. As a newbie, I get very frustrated at times. Just remember what I have learnt from so many people here. Patience, practice, practice, and more patience. But most importantly, have fun.

Default How many batterys

Hey, I have a question. I have 3 lipo battery's for my 120 sr. I was thinking about buying a pack of 6. How many battery's can I run down before the 120 starts to overheat the motor. With 9 battery's that would give me 72 minutes of fly time. Is that too much fly time for the motor or board?

Many people's opinions may vary, but as a general rule of thumb, I like to give it a 10 minute cool down between batteries.

Thank you. I will do that. Haven't been giving her no cool down with the three battery's. Am gonna start though. don't want to go through motor that quick. Lots more fly time when i get the 6 pack.
Thanks again

Default Question on another heli

Don't know if this is where I should post this because it has to do with another heli. Have not been here long. Anyway, that big o colossus I got now has a burned out circuit board . It has good motors, led's, rotors, all metal frame everything except a burned out board.. I want to fix it up with a better receiver and transmitter. Not sure how to begin though. I want the 4 ft colossus but with new circuit board and transmitter. Any answers will be great. Thanks

Best thing to do is hang colossus in a corner so you can look at it once in a while. Spend your money on something better!

A word on upgrades, Don't.
At least until you can fly something worth investing a bunch of money in.
Colossus and 120SR do not fall into this category.

Don't wast your time or money on DX4e or DX5 transmitter!
Invest in a computerized transmitter like a DX6i. This will be the most bang for the buck. Even a used DX6i, you will not believe how much nicer your 120SR flies.

Then go collective pitch. Collective pitch helicopters demand a little more focus but the experience will be worth the investment.

Once you can fly a helicopter like MCPX-BL very well.
This upgrade makes for a very pretty helicopter.

Collective pitch!!! I think I am ready to learn the real stuff. I was told that the WLtoys V977 would be my best beat too learn with. I love this 120, but no 3D at all. Almost did a roll but crashed too close too ground, OUCH!!! Hit hard.....
But yes I am ready now to learn some more. Any other thoughts out there besides the WLtoys V97???
