Default Back-up battery wiring for Diabolo S

This is not the only way to do this, just the way I did it. I basically took two female JR connectors and made what could be called a servo extension with a splice for the positive and negative where a RX pack could be plugged in. In the "schematic" that I drew with my daughters colored pencils, it shows the positive and negative spliced into the line from the slave, but they are actually crimped and soldered onto the same pins inside the connector. The female plugs are not labeled on the schematic.. oops.. but they are the only things that are not. I used enough wire to hold them together with a piece of shrink wrap and the ESC Slave plugs into one port and the batter into the other. If anyone needs elaboration, please don't hesitate to ask, it makes sense in my brain, but may be confusing for others. I took the the YGE ESC mount and modded it to fit below my Kosmik ESC so the battery fits in between the front battery and the ESC. The "adapter" is affixed to the inside frame with velcro as well.

Do you have a switch in the electrical path of either the slave to the FBL or at the backup battery connection or do you just unplug the backup battery when not in use?

I just unplug it.. It's right above the main packs which I have to take out anyway. I saw no value to adding a switch for me, but it could easily be incorporated.

Why not just plug the buffer into the FBL unit or the RX? No splicing required. Works great. Lasts a long time.

Because the S has a full fuselage and the FBL controller is tucked away in the back.

I've done the same on the S using a Y connector and Optiguard
