Default Will the trex500 pinion work with HC500 motor?

I know the pinion will fit the motor shaft, but will it work with the main gear (will the pinion mesh properly with the main). Thanks for the help.

Don't take this for gospel, but Be2TheEyeO and I were just going over this. We both decided we need to "tame down" our head speed. I didn't order an Align but if memory serves me they are both .6m pitch.

Thanks for the reply. I have some rhino 500 gears and I put them on the motor and when I spool it up it make a noise like a sewing machine. I also sent an email to helidirect to see what they would say.

I just tried a 14T pinion on my 94T gear. Don't know if it's the pinion itself or all pinions of this t-count but it didn't mesh so hot with the gear.

The teeth need to be... triangular shaped and nothing else if you know what I mean.

Spootman - Let us know what they say, I've head other say the same thing. I'm setting up my first 500 now, so I'm curious.

Mike - sounds like your 14t has a different thread pitch? Probably no way to check that without a pitch gauge.

Who knows, you'd bluntly assume they work with it since I got the lot of pinions with that second HDX500 SAS I bought off a fellow.

Well won't hear anything from helidirect til tomorrow but I'll post what they tell me. Looking at the mesh between the 13T pinion and main gear and it seems like the pinion teeth are too narrow.

Spootman, how's it going? Remember, gear pitch is a universal standard. .6 is .6. The sewing machine sound you hear I have to believe is just the sound of the motor and pinion contacting the main gear. If you have the lash set properly, run a battery thru it on the ground and examine both gears, no wear you're good. Looked chewed, something is wrong. Sure it cost you a gear, but not a crash.

I just got my 500 completed, but the Gaui ESC took an instant crap. I've got the new Castle ICE on the way and a new Rino pinion. No way am I even going to spool this thing up before I pull back the reigns. I goofed, I knew the 94t and 24t were for 4s but I was planning on going 6s, and in the time between building and waiting for stuff I just plain forgot the 4s set-up.
Thankfully, thru good friends here, I discovered this brain fart of mine before I could have killed myself! Imagine, 4500rpm head speed! Woah baby!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply, I think I found my sewing machine sound. When I was looking at it last night I noticed that the motor shaft was bent. One thing about the rhino trex pinions is that the hole on top of the pinion is a smaller diameter than the bottom 5mm hole, so the motor shaft can't fit all the way through the pinion.

Yeah, a bent motor shft. That sucks. What you described on the pinion is a taper fit. They need top be pressed on.

It's not tapered, it steps down. The bottom is 5mm and the top is 3mm.

Dunno, I was thinking since its made for the trex 500 that the motor shaft had a step down on it.
