voltage for sensors on Brain
Hi Otatiaro, do you know what the voltage will be for the gov sensor port on the Brain? The reason I ask: I have a spektrum RPM sensor that I'd like to use for the governor with Brain but I read in another thread on HF that folks have had problems with the spektrum (which is eagle tree) rpm sensor because it expects 5v and vbar uses only 3.3v on its sensor port.
edit: I'm referring specifically to the spektrum brushless rpm sensor and not the backplate sensor. Last edited by tcprogrammer; 08-02-2012 at 10:21 PM.. Reason: clarification |

- Other units (for example the SK720) also use accelerometers. Based on your experience, are them used on such units only for vibe analysis or also for other tasks? - The vibration filtering is hw-implemented in the sensor. Is the sensor custom developed for the brain or is a commercially available component? Thanks. Alessandro |

thats good to hear,
instead of putting bandaids on the problem ( accels that are highly affected by vibes) he just built it with parts that are less affected. plus that other unit is very old. we all know the vibe analysis is just a giant crutch, to fix a giant problem. cant wait to try the brain |

Another feature I would suggest to make a complete log would be the ability to hook up a SBUS cable or spektrum sat and capture the control inputs as well. Would make for a really cool data-logger (the stick inputs can be helpful to map vibrations to problems). Logview profiles are easy to make for most data types, so viewing software is already available.

I know, I have one... and the SK does not log both both detailed vibration data and stick inputs at the same time (only one or the other). A standalone device is what I was thinking of, so as not to be tied to a specific FBL system. I do like my SK but the newer gyros make for better flying (see the SK540 for an example, the only real difference is the gyros, most say it flies a lot better).

In the governor panel you can change throttle min point and max point (even if not using governor). With a CC ESC, if it doesn't arm, I suggest you decrease min point until it arms, then it's set in the unit and transparent for your transmitter. I don't know CC ESCs very well, but the unit pass through the throttle channel as soon as it boots, so you can set the max endpoint on certain ESCs and use arming security feature of your ESC. Hello,
Just a small message for those on Red Baron (baronerosso.it). I'm not on this forum because unfortunately I don't speak a word of Italian (I suffered a lot from that each time I came to Milano to work ...). But google translate is enough to understand what is written on it. I won't make any comment on Rik posts, just and I have more to say if he's not happy with that (I already said to MSH I've read the post and I don't appreciate it at all, got no reply). About the accelerometers, there is a 3 axis accelerometer in the BRAIN unit. Without accels it is almost impossible to have the autostab feature (even the best gyros drift a bit, so even 0.1°/s is not noticeable in flight, but after a 4min flight that's 24° of drift, enough to say the heli is not "flat"). You need accels to correct this drift. But what I meant is that gyros are a lot more expensive than accels, so a standalone vibe analysis could be cheaper than a fullfeatured FBL unit (I'm already thinking about its features ...). Hello Thomas i had posted some minor bug that i see on the software in demo mode and you have solved some of them with the last update but one is still there, if after selecting paramters on the wizard and than you go to advanced and after return back to wizard the yellow line that show your selection disapperars. Probably is because i'm running demo?
Hope that help Quote:

Just went through demo mode, looks like a breeze to set up! Can't wait to receive mine.
Is there ability to set/add your own expo/DR values in tx or only 4 flying styles pre-set?

Awesome work on the software... set-up is really a breeze.
3 flight mode with pre-set agility + the ability to turn on/off governor on each mode as well as stab, waow..!! Where I can get one right now..? Note: I would only change in english language the ''NICK'' axis word, it's easy to figure that this is Elevator axis, but can confuse, I'm sure there will be post for asking what is ''nick''

Does anyone have a pic of the USB port on the unit? I have a heli with a gyro plate that is pretty much in the frame and I want to make sure I can get to the USB port.
I am also guessing that agility can be set in the TX using dual rates to acheive faster or slower roll and flip rates?
