Default Containers for fuel

What containers will be OK with glow fuel? Is there any way I can tell what will be suitable?

Would one made for petrol be OK?

What about white spirit containers?

There are some that take chemicals and most stuff but not petrol.

I want a small container, about one litre.

White spirit or methylated spirit containers will work just fine.

Do you want this as a tank or as a container to take fuel to the field in?....

something like this will work.

You could simply buy a liter of fuel and keep using that.

Try one of the auto racing supply shops. Most of what you'll find is probably about 10-12L but I'm sure they'll have the small fuel bottles for priming.

I've only ever bought gallons or ½ gallons.

Thanks

Im not sure what you are filling, but a litre isnt going to go all that far.

I have a Gallon and half gallon container in my flight 'box', so I can carry two different fuels.

The half gallon doesnt last long in my heli (30 hawk (550 size)).

Are you worried about extra weight or something?

Size is the key. I have a space under the floor in the motor which isn't high enough for a gallon or half gallon container but I could take a few containers the size of white spirit bottles.

White spirit bottles will probably do the trick then.

I'd probably break the glass. I don't have any metal containers of that size lying around.

Thats for nitromethane, but methanol is fine in pretty much any plastic container as is the oil added.

Most plastics seem to be fine, including polyethylene so even a soft-drink bottle will probably work for transport (test this first). Pretty sure the only difference between a metho bottle and a soft-drink one is the lid, AFAIK they are both PET.

That's an interesting link.

Funny thing is that plastic drinking water bottles don't last at all with petrol so I assume that the heli fuel is not as plastic hungry as petrol. I realise that petrol and plastic have the same origins so I thought that heli fuel would too!!
I use margarine tubs for cleaning things in petrol and they last about 5 mins!

I had thought about using a glass pickled onion jar (glass was suggested earlier) but I know it would get broken. Pity too as it would have been ideal with a metal top to add a Dubro quick fill fitting.

Plastic drinking bottles would be too tall (2 litre) or too small (300ml) but obviously would be a great choice especially from the recycling point of view which, I hasten to add, is NOT my scene.
