cheap charger
Iv been using an $8turnigy and cheap eflite charger for about a year. Im looking to upgrade to something a little quicker. Iv looked at hobbykings site but I would like some input of a charger with ac power for.less than$ 50. All I charge is 2 and 3s lipos with jst and deans. Would be nice if it did 6s for future use.

Did you try Towerhobbies.com look for the Electrifly stuff. There are plenty of chargers for 2-3 lipos. Don`t forget you get what you pay for when it comes to any product.
Try HeliDirect.com too, I am sure others will chime in this thread. |

You are not going to find many AC chargers that will be much good for 6s lipos as most are limited to 50W.
A 50W charger is pretty hopeless for 6s, unless it is a little 6s 450 (1300mAh) lipo. Even a Trex 500 sized 2650mAh 6s will take more than a hour to charge (50W / 22.2V = 2.25A). Forget about AC, and get a decent rated charger & separate power supply. Something around 180-200W is a good place to start. I would advise against a cheap charger - buy cheap, buy twice. This is particularly important with chargers. The cheaper ones, are less reliable (safety is important when charging lipos), and the balancing accuracy tends to be far worse (which can affect the life of the "relatively" expensive lipos). Buy the biggest and best quality charger you can, and you have a better chance of "future-proofing" it. I have been very happy with my Hyperion Duo II - I upgraded from little Bantam BC6 (the one that many, incl SkyCharger copied), and never regretted it. My Duo can accurately balance charge two 5000mAh 6s simultaneously in about 35 minutes. It can also tell me what the internal resistance of the lipo packs are, which is a good indication of the pack condition. Colin

I always question people when they start looking for the cheapest of anything and chargers are no different. Why cheap out on something that is a hobby item (read enjoyment activity)? Buy one that will work well for you and increase your enjoyment of your hobby. There is nothing wrong with a 50W AC/DC unit for charging smaller packs and in fact they make a lot of sense. Plus buying ahead in chargers is not a smart idea in my mind. Things change fast and so if you have no need for a 6s charger right now, put it off until you do. Not only will there be better chargers out there by then, but you will be better equipped to know what you want when the time comes. So look at the Hyperion and Bantam 50W AC/DC units and I think you will be much happier.

A good charger with a good PS makes this hobby so much more enjoyable! We tend to be cheap with chargers and it's a big mistake. Better to have less packs but a big a$$ charger&PS that will get you in the air every 15 minutes if needed; or faster
