Default No stock on 600 bottom plate.. again.

Friend went into the dirt last weekend and broke another bottom plate.
"2 weeks" until the bottom plate comes back into stock.
This is the only part which is available from RCA exclusively, I should have learned after the last time we had 600s grounded for the same thing.
Time to get a few delrin alternatives made.

Ive been waiting a couple months now since i crashed. I ended up having to glue mine back together and fab an abs plate to reinforce and use zip ties for backup in case the glue pops loose, so my landing skids wont fall completely off. That would be a blade strike landing for sure. It works but its heavy and ugly.

Im thinking of converting it to the narrower align frame parts so spare parts availability wont be as much of an issue again, or i may order an align nitro bottom plate and try to make it work somehow. I wonder if anyone has tried that.... Looks like i would need the aluminum blocks and the plate itself. If i want to mount anything to the plate it may need to be modified.... Or replaced with another material.... Could be worth a shot. Though if i really can get spares in a couple weeks, that would be easier.

After a crash last year, I used an Align plastic part with spacers. It worked well until I could get the correct part.

It did not cross my mind to modify the machine to the narrower frame spacing of the Trex 600E, as the additional width, to me, means additional stiffness and strength.

Go have a look. I found these to be in stock last night. I ordered mine. I did not receive the notification, so for those of you who chose to be notified when the item is back in stock, know that you may not have received your notice either.

Finally! I'll have to go dig my 600 out of the closet now.

ebay 18.00

if you have the old one use glass cloth on the bottom side of the plate after ca'ing it back together so it hold while you work

coat the glass cloth in epoxy and apply to the underside (side not in the battery compartment
brush it down and when it dries you can lightly sand it down for a clean finish and fly it forever. If you have the old broken one as well apply the glass cloth then apply the other bottom plate and let dry
problem solve just short of forever

I went with the kDE bottom bracket, it's the last bracket you will have to buy and it saves your frames, just use plastic screws on the landing gear. I had a horrible crash and my frame and skids were in one piece. You will spend more in the long term buying plastic bottom plates every time you crash.

This is what I was just going to suggest! For one the plastic bottoms are flimsy and poorly made. Whether this model or the Align. It was the very first part on my 600 that I scrapped immediately. I noticed right off the bat the heli was far more rigid overall.
