Firstly,

I think your skill is outstanding - I wish I had a fraction of yours!

I do have some questions though.

Let me lay out the background for my concern:

I got a 450X about 2 weeks ago and I am very pleased with it, it was quite the BNF apart from my having to stick down one loose corner of the BX . Otherwise, I just bound her up and flew her..

But after 30 flights into it (3rd time at the field) I found a lot of slop in the can. Pinion was moving up and down. Turns out the c-clip went awol. I used a tooth pick after every day at the field to drop silicon oil in the bearings if lube is a question. As you know, as nice as the stock 450X (eflite 440) motor is, there are some folk having issues with it.

Shrug. I dunno, So first question:

1. Should one be worried about the quality of the motor on the 500X?

Now...

2. What's the speedy like? Is it programmable?

I think someone said it's not. No worries, there are other option.

3. Rev vs Regular 'Blade' blades.... what's the big difference?

I have a 450X now, what qualities of Rev blades would make me want to choose them over the standard 335s - which appear to cost more here! So this question I'm really curious about.

Thanks for keeping us informed. I have a few more good ones but I might leave it at that.

Once again, bloody outstanding flying...
/envy

Cheers and greetings from downunder!

Interesting yes I see the Protos has plastic tail assembly.

500X looks pretty good looks comparable to other 500FBL heli's. Plenty of Blade fans who will buy this it ticks most of the boxes. I've been very happy with my 450x apart from the motor can falling apart after 80 flights

Ok Jordan a few questions...

One,.. is that a bed spread or a shower curtain that you used behind you?

Two..Do you collect the snow globes behind you or are those your mothers..?

Three... did you have any issues at the compitition with the Heli out of the box yourself?

heh

Great flying and thanks for the review!

It looks a lot larger than the 450X doesn't it. It seems very powerful too.

Hmm...me wants one

Great review but at $900 for the 500x, I don't think this thing is gonna sell very well.

6HV has a plastic tail that works just fine too. Excellent flying.

He did say batts and charger But most of us should really not be passing judgement on the price yet as most do not actually know how it flies or how reliable/well built it is. The price sounds fair as long as it is actually RTF and flies as good or better than a Trex 500 3GX

in defence of horizon/e-flite
the packs they supplied for the mcpx, 450, 450x and 130x I have owned, were quite good, with low IR, and no puffing.

the chargers.. well, I own pl8s, so dont use them, so cant say.

I did try the stock 130x charger some though, and it took like an hour.

A friend I fly with is buying the 500x, so I guess Ill see for myself and do a test flight, but if its anything like the 450x, its bound to be brilliant, and the performance of the Ar7200Bx is PROVEN and pretty awsome.

to thread starter, very nice flying!! kids theese days and their playstation thumb skills...

the simplicty of blade 450 construction is quite nice, and way easier to mount/dismount esc/motor/servos etc on a blade 450, than my trex 450 pro

I guess you don't like Blade and you think the price is to high. I've had a couple of Blade lemons, but I've also had some great Blade helicopters. Some people like to build, some like to build and fly, and some just like to fly. There is room for everyone in this hobby.

Right now I see 369 HFer's on the Blade forum. I've not do the count of the other forums, but it looks like it about equal to all the other forums combined. Means they might be doing something right.

i run the other way that look at the compass forums almost no one on them were all out flying our helis
more people on the forum more issues people are having :p it works both ways all in how you want to spin it

oh a BnF Basic wouldnt be bad at 600 THEN it might be a good deal add your own packs charger and TX

but id rather have an Atom 500 if i had to do it again thing is a tank

At 800 bucks I hope the plastic tail servo holder works better than the junk they give you on their 450's....
