the stripped screws on a 250 are more of an issue of not use a good drive get a MIP driver and they will not be a problem. though sometimes you have to force the tool into the head the first time.
I fly over really long grass and this is a huge help in saving helis in crashes butthe 250 usually has no issues if I hit th in time. very seldom after a light crash does it need anything.
the 300x tends to break a bit more. sometimes it will be ok and sometimes a servo arm breaks or the head bolt.
the 300x needs some upgrades to hold up well but not too many and it is a slow and docile flyer. the 250 can be tamed down but it is still fast and easy to over control. lots of power too

Still didn't answer my question, what is the hex size on the 300X? Reason I ask is because the hex driver kit I am getting only has 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3mm..

1.5mm and a 4mm nut driver. it needs a 2mm for the motor mount. two 1.5mm for the feathering shaft on the 250 and 300x.

I start this hobby from 250FB, even people often say it's really hard to learn with this bird. But hard doesn't mean impossible, right?
What crossed my mind that time is, if I can tame this lil bird, then I can tame bigger heli, and it does. When you really can fly this bird, 450, 600 or 700 is just relatively easy. But just everyone here says, it is really pain in the a** when you learn it. You have to fight boredom since it takes way more time to learn with it.

The whole carbon frame with aluminum assembly on ebay is 60 and I figure a head and tail shouldn't run more than 140. I think it can done,I did a little snooping but really wasn't interested so gave up!What i am gonna do is get a MCPX brushless on Black Friday I think that makes it worth it's cost, those little buggers can get expensive too!,if I get caught up on the bling wagon.

I may just do that, thanks for the idea! Especially since I could build a upgraded 300x for less than the price of a new one, except for the BX unit.

Except, I could get a 300X from Ultimate Hobbies for $224 + shipping...

Foofers kind of right. I prefer to fly my 250 instead of my 300, but the fact is that I run to the crash scene when it's a trex 250, and I walk over when it's the 300. Blades plastic servos have been a problem on the 450. I have 2 of them because I practice with them a lot. One has stock stuff because it's cheap to fix, the other is BA looking. Both fairly rugged, but the plastic servos WILL strip. For some reason I haven't lost a servo on my 300 and it has a bunch of flights on it. Of course, I have never lost a servo on either 250, just the motor, the esc, and the 3gx! What a $&@/? That thing was! It's fine now. Either is a fine machine, but I believe for your first one the 300 is a good bit more reliable. Follow my mantra, if you can't decide which one to buy, buy them both. You'll use them so why not. Most of us never stop at one, and you need something to fly when one crashes. When I do this with pairs, I buy two of the same though. That way you only need one parts box, are prone to fill the box a little better, and you use the same batteries. You'll also become adept on repairing that particular model. I did this with the trex 250's, blade 450x's and trex 600's. It was a great plan. I've since sold one of the 600's as I very seldom wreck these days. Used 250's and 300's are hardly worth selling. The 10,000 hour rule is kicking in.
