My MacBook is 5 years old. It runs aerofly 5.7 fine, but I'm not happy with the program. I lose site of the ground and have trouble finding the runway. It's also hard to see the plane when it gets away from you. I don't have the specs on the video card, but want to know if there's a significant difference in seeing the plane and scenery on newer macs. I am able to stay above the required 30fps using high or medium graphic settings and 4x alias. Would a new computer with the latest hardware make a significant difference or do I need to get used to the software the way it is?

Aerofly 5.7 is overall more expensive than Phoenix and FR6. One would expect it to be in the same or higher category as Phoenix and RF6. I have found the graphics to be fine on my 17" 2011 MBP. However, the lack of consistent rotor HS keeps me from using Aerofly 5.7. The guys at Ikarus claimed that they are working on a fix for this. It has been over 8 months, and still no fix.
Until Aerofly 5.7 comes up with an update to fix this rotor RPM issue, I prefer to use either Phoenix or RF6, even if it means rebooting in BootCamp.

As an update to this thread, I stopped using Areofly in native Mac,bought a new MacBook pro retina display and am using Real Flight, running it thru boot camp. Real Flight is much nicer software IMO and runs flawlessly using bootcamp and windows 7.

What is your main reason for not using Aerofly? Is it the bogging HS issue?

You lose sight of the ground quickly, so orientation is really hard. Thats my only complaint, bur its a big one. Once you get about 10 feet off the ground you can't see the ground so you have no horizontal reference. I tried every setting in the program and nothing changed it. Do you use it and have you found a way to keep the ground in view, at least until you get up to about 30 feet? RealFlight has a setting to keep the ground in view. You'll still lose the ground reference once you get up high, but it is MUCH better in this respect than Aerofly. I wanted to Mac version of this to work desperately but couldn't get it. Any advice?
