Default Belt CP upgrade

After a crash, broken rotor head, gyro failure and one servo failure, I decide to go for upgrade. After a long wait for parts arrive, almost finish with Belt CP upgrade:

CopterX head + tail
SG-90 servo x4
Telebee GR302-AD gyro
GF blade x2
CopterX tail blade

I was using DX6i+AR6200 since some time ago. Still thinking if need to get a 30A ESC or BEC, what do you guys think? Also, a better look Trex canopy

I will post some pictures soon.

They will make it a much better heli and easier to learn on, I would think about a dts mod as well as this does remove slop from the system. with these upgrades your heli will fly nearly like a Trex, certainly far better than stock. I would stick with it till the frame is knacked and then think about a better clone.

Good Idea to upgrade the ESC though

+1 The stock ESC is really bad and can catch fire at any random time. Mine was on fire 2 minutes out of the box giving it a test run in the living room!

If you're running an AR6200 and SG90s on the stock ESC, my first move would be to get a decent switching UBEC as soon as humanly possible. The ESC itself is fine on the stock motor, it's the BEC part that tends to overheat and catch fire. Spend $25 on a CCBEC now and it will take whatever you can dish out for years to come.

When you decide to upgrade the motor, it will definitely be time to change the ESC too. The stock 25 A unit is just barely enough for the Esky 3800 kV, but nothing more than that. When you do upgrade, you might as well go for 40 A. The difference in price and weight is almost negligible, and you will have a lot more options for the motor.

Is hobbywing 30A ESC with built-in BEC a good choice for upgrade?

IMHO that's a pretty marginal improvement with its linear 2A BEC. You would be better off with the latest version of the 40A model - it has a built-in 3A switching BEC, which alone is worth the price difference.

+1 Mika.
Mine works very well on the 450, running a Scorpion 2221/8 and barely gets warm.

+2 Hobbywings are very good and you should definitely get the one that has the 3a switching BEC! I personally run the Align 35a with a Hobbywing UBEC (3a external switching type BEC) and my ESC never even gets warm running a power hungry motor. The motor gets a little warm though. It would also have the amps needed to easily upgrade motors without having to upgrade the ESC!

I use 2450mAh LiPos and get around 7 to 8 mins before the monitor goes off.

Hey thats loads better should fly nice now too, just one small point that i saw i had the same gyro as yours and i think you may have some problems as it is and im almost sure in the destruction's it states to mount it so the wording is read from left to right, or in other words turn it through 90' so that the servo wires point at the tail

Happy flyin
