Default throttle settings help

Went thru setting up gov settings while connected to the computer everything works perfect normal at 50% iu1 and iu2 at 100% all green lights but once I disconnect from the computer only the normal works to 50% I flip to IU1&2 no change in throttle position. Any thoughts?

You won't see any movement until the sensor has picked up signal. Is it on a nitro ?

When disconnected (flight mode) it is in actual gov mode so this behavior is normal. It doesn't follow throttle curve but will move throttle based on HS when you fly.

If you setup the gov as per the sticky and have the green on your different HS and the sensor toggle in the software you should be fine.

So not working out as expected. Settings n50% iu1 70% ui2 100%. Problem when spooling in normal the throttle is jumping past 50 and going to 70 flooding the engine 3 out of 4 times. Once I do get it to run iu2 is not a problem,
thoughts, I will try lowering the iu1 % and see if that works.

Omer stated it needs to be 40% back in post #2

Changing the 40%-70%-100% throttle curve will not affect the SK spooling up your heli at all. Those numbers are only used to tell the SK what head speed you want... Nor, IU1 and IU2
If you lower your low ramp, high ramp and overdrive numbers, you will get a slower spool up and may not have the engine flooding.
On a side note, a properly tuned engine should be able to handle a quick throttle burst. But also its better to be rich when breaking in an engine or if you don't have a lot of tuning experience... Just to keep from grenading your engine.

Do you have any type of telemetry available to help keep you aware of what your head temps are while in flight?

The Overdrive has nothing to do with the spool. it is in charge of something different - but the low and high ramps do.

The low ramp will manage how hard/fast the first spool from idle to a low throttle level and hold there: more or less hold depends on the number in your low ramp. If its cold or you have reach first spool increase the number so it will not choke. It is exactly what we do our-self when spooling a nitro manually - we open just a little and wait for the motor to pick up.

The high ramp will take from there - the number effects how fast it will spool from the low ramp to the next level, or between the 3 different levels once it is there.

OP, make sure you have enough headspeed in normal mode otherwise the engine will not pick up speed. Seems like you are running a N7 so assuming a .90-1.20 size engine on a 700 size heli. Get to at least 1750-1800rpm in normal. Use this throttle curve: 0-20-40-40-40. Make sure you middle and idle needles are well set; critical for a good spoolup. If too rich, it will flood and stop....

If you are running a YS120, let me know, this engine is another ball game and there are few tips to get it spoolup right.

RUS
it is a new motor per se. 105 hzr Rebuilt. I should have have started the thread with this and the skookum is almost 2 yrs old without updates, dont yell it wasnt broken so I didnt fix it; just in a new heli. Reduced TC to 0...40 40... and still bogs but tolarable and no where near 1850, this would be great more like n1350, iu1 1650 wobbley dog, iu2 2000 perfect.
Should I rise the normal rpm to 1850 I the software, conflicts with the governor sticky?

If you are using the stock gearing on the N7, i suggest you use 1800-1900 and 2000rpm for normal, idle1 and idle2 respectively. Nitro engines are not made to run at low rpm....you would benefit from upgrading the SK to latest version: better governor....

Have you checked the gov sensor ? If its not sensing it skookum will default to 70%. Its in the software drop down with the voltage I think !
