Saving canopy scheme to a variant?

I have a heap of canopy schemes for various models and im trying to work out how to save them/attach them to a variant. At the moment I have to reselect the canopy scheme everytime I load the variant as its goes back to the default canopy design. How to fix this?

(Ive done a fair bit of searching but cant find the solution... )

Select the Varient that you would like and then the canopy or design in th edit menu once you are happy with your selection select to change model, you will see you current selection is rotating nicely in the middle of the screen, now simply add to favourites and your done. Now they are stored at the top of the list.
