GMP Hughes 300
Well, it turns out that after much contemplation, I will not be restoring my and flying my GMP Hughes 300 after all, so I have decided to put it up for grabs....right now on eBay with no reserve! Click here to bid.
The GMP Hughes 300 was a variant of the company's famous Cricket helicopter designed as a semi-scale model of the famous Schweitzer / Hughes 300C full-sized helicopter. The Hughes 300C is today the rarest and most collectible production GMP Helicopter. There is one hanging from the ceiling of the AMA Museum in Muncie, Indiana. This model, and the parts for it not shared by the Cricket are nearly impossible to find today. It is estimated that there exist only a few dozen complete examples of this model helicopter today. This particular example was an incredible garage sale find! It actually appears to never have been flown- there is no glow plug cutout on the cooling shroud, no glow plug, no evidence of nitro residue anywhere, all bearings move very freely, the clutch lining looks perfect, the starting cone has no nicks or gouges, and the engine appears to never have been run. It is all original as I obtained it, except that I added a set of old Cricket tail blades out of my spare parts box. It appears as though the model had at one point been dropped on its nose. The canopy and wooden servo tray have both been damaged and repaired. This model includes the original woodwork, canopy, cockpit interior, and instrument panel (in foreground of picture- never installed in model). Comes with all you see in pictures, including an O.S. Max .28 FS-H helicopter engine that appears to have never been run! Excellent compression and flawlessly smooth rotation. This rare and important vintage R/C helicopter will make a fantastic addition to any serious collection!
