I SAW THAT!!!. No joke. I then took the heli, which was the size of a Trex 500, and threw some Blade 400 blades on it, fixed with some tape, and tried to fly it.... OH and it was NOT a 3s heli.. Lets just say, it fit easier into the trash can afterwards. |

Align helis is the cheapes of them all at a deasent quality and a weary well entry CP heli for those that will advance further. For those that doesnt wont to advance beyond an FP heli why bother?

So you are annoyed that some other business puts out stuff that brings people into your store?

If we all hat to rely on our LHS to get our stash moust of us would fly around with Blade helis, a few Trexes would there allso be among cheap chineesehelis and clones like the Storm 450.
Where in the US do you get a Logo? Here its only one shop selling them and that shop is allso a dealer of industrial heavy equipment and they have an online shop. So online shops have secured the diversity and competition beween the heli brands and they are available online.

EVERYTHING can be found on line... where do you think the Local Hobby shops get THERE stuff??... ya, they order it on line... GOGGLE makes the world turn ...
the main point of this thread was how the OP thinks "mall helis are a problem" but He him self states " I really think these helis are bad for our hobby, even though a mall $100 "Steel Blaze" heli got me started." this WHOLE thread is TROLL FOOD !! I got started in the hobby because i bought a crap Air Hogs (for $60 at Walfart) and then a Syma 107 (for 60 somethin $ ) at some little toy shop while on vaca in Fla...then i googled and the rest is history.. Even though i got over charged for junk it still was a "foot in the door" for me and i'm thankfull i did it . it is fact = air hogs are JUNK and cost 30-60+ $ and EVERYTHING in a mall is WAY overpriced and usually junk. I've also seen these little crap helis at T.J. Maxx , Target , and some crap online sites. .. But no matter what crap heli you get or what you spend on it , it's YOU who buys it and YOU who desides to research and go further with it .... Quit the bitchin and GO FLY !

True, BUT. If I told you that this gold ring was real and you later discovered it was fake wouldn't you be upset? The point is these guys are pedaling these items off as top of the line. One not knowing this can be suckered in. There will always be something out there bigger and better but these people are out misleading people.

The first question to be asked for any "expensive" Mall copter is where can I get replacement parts?
We all know what happens with a heli Look at it this way, you can always have fun with them while they do not recognoize you and let the un informed know where to go to get a reliable starter. I agree that the MCX2, MSR or MCPx would be a better option than a mall copter in most cases. Now I started with the AirHogs with my kid and now look what I own! too many RC's lol then again I always liked helo's too. 8 heli's and 6 planks (mostly indoor types)

before i bought the gold ring i would research it ... big difference.. if you believe the crap at a mall kiosk is top of the line ... well.. then you're a sucker ... do you really think the jewlery , belts or the giant belt buckles are top of the line?? "a fool and his $ will soon be parted" it's common sense.. ever been to the city? they'll sell ya a REAL rolex or mavado for $100 bucks .... they people who buy this stuff know it's crap .. and if they dont ... it's a $100 lesson .. ** if you were trying to make $ selling something.. would you tell people it's junk or the top of the line ??

I agree, they're there to make money. One 'red flag' some may not realize is that they are renting that kiosk for a short time... for seasonal sales. Secondly, those sales people are most likely making minimum wage and/or commission. ... They will tell you anything to make a sale. Kev, do they have those helis at the Auburn Mall too?

Ok, I was not going to reply but what the heck.
#1. I despise the mall/clearance outlet etc selling "crash & trash" helicopters as they seem to enjoy telling people that all the parts can be bought at any LHS. Well I manage 2 LHS and rest assured we DO NOT carry parts for them. I wish I had $1 for every person over a one year span who comes in asking for parts, I could buy another Logo or 2 #2. The reason some of the LHS don't carry parts for some of the helicopters is that we either can not become dealers for them as the manufacturers will not set us up as dealers OR there is no local support. I am not about to order in what could be several thousand dollars worth of parts only to have them sit there because all the local guys continue to order online regardless of pricing. Not a rant at all just voicing my thoughts on some of what I have read so far...
