Default Best Trex 450 Motor Review/Comparison I've ever found

For everyone out there that is (or ever has) tried to figure out which motor they should get for their 450 to give them the best power, or longest flight times, or the best balance between the two.... This link will be of interest.

http://www.helituning.com/index.php/...uper-test.html

The review is from 2006, so it IS dated, but the info. is still very good and little has changed with the motors (if anything) since the review was done.

For those of you that don't care to read through the entire review here is a very quick summary (based on a 4s setup, Head speed of RPM).

Longest flight time/most efficient: Neu 1105H/3Y

Most powerful: Medusa 28-40-3400

Best blend of power and flight time: Neu 1107H/2Y

So there you have it. Buy what will give you what you are looking for.

There are enough people (new and not so new) that keep posting questions about motor selection, so this just might be worth making a sticky out of so people can find it easily in the months/years to come.

Anyway, my Neu 1107H/2Y is on its way to my door as we speak. I hope that this posting helps out with motor selection.

Best regards.

It wouldn't be hard to add these motors to the list.... All that would need to be done is have someone with an eagletree on their heli run the same tests with them.

I don't have any of these motors (nor do I intend to put the coin into buying them just for test purposes), but if someone already had one or more of these motors and the test equipment they could post their results.

.....Any takers???

I dont mean to hijack this thread,

But what is currently the most powerful motor for the 450Pro on a 3S setup?

I have the stock BL430SP with 14T pinion and seems pretty fast. Is there something more powerful?

fwiw..

My favorite is the Align 4050 Kv on 11t...Hard 3d for about 5-5:30, pretty easy on batts...Needs 25C or better packs to really come alive...

The Scorpion 2221-6 "feels" like the most powerful motor I have tried. I added a 2221-8 to my Pro, after about 150 flights, I needed to do a bearing swap, even with very regular oiling... So while I waited for bearings, I put the Align 450M back in, and it is really a very strong motor!

Medusa doesn't make motors, plus the scorpion motors arrived on the scene. I have a NEU and a scorpion and I would take the scorpion first hands down. It makes about the same power as the NEU and weighs a lot less.

Was doing a search looking for info so I can replace the ESC and motor in my 450 SE V2. I put in a PRO head and I am looking to increase head speed a bit. Have the stock 430XL and Align ESC in it. Was looking into a 430M or one of the Scorpion's. But alas this thread has failed me..so far. Maybe we can update it.

Default What about for scale?

I am looking to put a scale body on my 450 Pro V2. I have the 450M motor and the stock align ESC. Do you guys think that motor has enough torque to lift the extra weight i am going to add to the heli? Just scale/sprot flying. The hardest I will probably ever push it is FFF and stall turns.
