Default White bushings in 2010/2011 head

For those using the 2009 white rigid head bushings, do you still pin the spindle to the spindle seesaw with the 5mm grub screw (0140d)?

Thanks,
- Rob

I do and am having a bobble at spool up and lower revs. Wasn't there when new. I was about to try not pin the spindle. I put new bushings and dampers yesterday and it is a little better, have new main shaft, spindle, the whole tail is brand new including TT and took the chance to put 3 bearings on it. It flies good anyway, but I don't like the bobble.

same here actually, I think yesterday was much more bobblier than before. Strange, will see in next flight (yesterday I made the spool up a little slower)

So I guess the black dampers don't have a bobble since I've never seen it.

ZT: haha, quick step! well. The latest vbar software has option to change spool up speed so a few clicks there and the dance will be as near as lost I hope.

There is some with the black bushings, when the blades are not straight and the pitch is not at zero on spool-up.
Occurs around 800 RpM.

Mine does it with the whites and at whichever pitch. It's not a thing about blade centering, it happens well up until the head speed is almost 1300 or 1400, still a bit visible at 1500. The second TDR with black bushings almost doesn't do it.

I am afraid of having a bent hub or something, since everything else is straight and true, and specially since it wasn't there when new. Even the main shaft bearings were replaced 3 weeks ago. Could the hub bearings be wearing? I mean the ones that support the pivot ball.

Default From the man himself - Jan's response

Jan advises that the spindle should be pinned in the same way as with the black bushings. He also recommends using a black O-ring at the outside and a red O-ring at the inside for the white bushings.

Thanks for all responses.

but wasn't that just as a "standard setup" that will fit most. In the 2009 manual he writes about these three different combinations. I think "as stiff as you can have" is best, try black/black, fly at your lowest HS and if you have no vobble (or resonance in the canopy) then it should be good. That's what I think, maybe different if you do extreme FFF, don't know.

The first guide here, from someone who done it, was not to put the grub screw in and use black/black.
Working well for me, except sometimes resonation during first spoolup.

So I'm finally ordering my crash parts from a little while ago.

I've added white bushings, red O-rings, frame stiffeners, and the heat resistant intermediate gear. I already have the Gauro motor mount.

I'm re-evaluating building up my second TDR later on in the year with a 4525 ultimate.
It seems to have most of the punch of a 4530 in a lighter form factor.

Am I missing anything?

You are missing that you'll have an egg boiler too!!!

On the custom winding sub forum I read the Xera is cooler because it has air channels that help in refrigeration, so the better efficiency is a myth. However, it pulls the same power and comes down cooler. I like it a lot.
