What they said... plus they look cool! ;-)

Some electrics installed. I can't believe I don't have another landing gear on my shop so I have to order one of those also!

So far no fit or finish issues have cropped up so this looks to be the final version for now.

I think I will draw up a fiber version once this is done. It would be a 2 piece frame like the trex 450 but use the same servo blocks.

I really like what you have done! The servo/frame section reminds me of the Furion 450. If there is one downside to your heli...the black plastic boom block. It looks so out of place. I would like to think you will be looking at making one to match the frames. Not that Im knocking your heli by any means...it looks SWEET!

Yea that tail case is a bit clunky, I have had my eye on it but one thing at a time.

Now I have a question for the group... Some of you have asked to purchase these but I am curios what you would consider a fair price?

One of the idea's behind the original design was a sacrificial lower frame that is easy to replace and less $$ then replacing and entire frame half. I would want to sell replacement lower frames for a reduced cost and I think most other parts will survive all but the worst crash.

The parts list is:
Upper aluminum frames (left and right needed) - x2
Lower G10 frame in black (interchangeable left and right)- x2
Aluminum bearing blocks (interchangeable upper and lower) - x2
Aluminum gear mounts - x2
Main gear spacer - x1
Swash Anti Rotation bracket - x1

What do you think?

Sounds like an excuse to design your own landing gear!

Looks great Kelly!!! I bet you have quite a few hours into the cad/cam for this.
In the second picture in the post I quoted, there doesn't look like there is alot of clearence between the elevator servo horn and the anti-rotation bracket. Maybe its just the angle of the picture?
How close is it at say 13-14degrees pos pitch and forward elevator?

Again, Outstanding job!!

Thank you guys!

J,
The swash will travel the full distance and bind before the arm or push rod will contact the anti rotation bracket.

I went ahead and ordered everything I needed last night beastx, another flybarless head etc... It should be here mid week and once I have that installed I will double check all the clearances. I have plenty of room to make minor adjustments around the elevator push rod if needed.

I will shoot a iphone video once it is alive

Since I don't have a 700 I would need a set of broken frames to do measure or a cad drawing of the stock frame. I would also need a few parts to measure.... maybe a broken/worn out swash.

I do enjoy drawing.... I get totally absorbed and the daily problems of life get pushed aside for a while!

Just don't call it Kregan Kustom Kopters. Initials might not work so well. LOL!

I wish I had the skills and machinery to make my own parts. Next thing you need to do is anodize them!

Sorry for the delay but my order from RC Hover never arrived... Placed the order on 9/11/11. I have a call into them and hope to have the parts mid week so I can get this in the air for a test.

I have been called Special K before so maybe SKH ? LOL

Nice looking parts. I may have to re-tool and start machining me some aluminum. I just made a set of custom frames for my T-Rex 500E. I may be looking to sell a few sets if there is an interest for them.

The point is to hide the wires.

Just kidding, those look great.

I like the look but I'd hate to put this on Nitro! lol It will be like a clear frying pan and I just got done cooking some bacon! Definitely a nice option for my 550 soon

So this is for a 600, or a 700?

Just going off of market prices:

The parts list is:
Upper aluminum frames (left and right needed) - x2 $40 each
Lower G10 frame in black (interchangeable left and right)- x2 $10 each
Aluminum bearing blocks (interchangeable upper and lower) - x2 $25 each
Aluminum gear mounts - x2 $15 each
Main gear spacer - x1 $15
Swash Anti Rotation bracket - x1 $10

add it all up... @$205 for the full frame kit.

However, when I price new parts (automotive performance industry):

1.) Calculate your material cost per part
2.) Calculate 15% of material cost
3.) Calculate expendibles (example a new CNC bit is $100, and they last for @ 20 parts, the expendible cost per part is $5.)

Add them all together, this is your raw production cost.

4.) Double Raw production cost, this is your sales price, which should calculate out to about a 30-40% profit margin after labor, which is standard for low yield manufacturing.

Wow, that's pretty cool to be able to see through the frame like that. Makes a clean wiring job more of a challenge.

At the point I'm wanting to switch to a larger motor on my 600 I would love to switch to this frame since it looks like you could stick pretty much anything on there rather than have to cut up the stock 600 frames (I have the aluminum frames and really don't want to mess with cutting them up). That and I prefer the motor on top rather than buried down in the frame.

I posted a quick video of the frames with the electronics installed.

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ku8EeBvyUFw[/ame]

In the video I mention that 19mm is a little tight. What I meant by that is at 19mm the elevator servo arm is a little tight to the anti rotation plate.

On the Beastx I was able to get the blue light on the setting with that servo arm at both 19 and 22mm.
