Has any one run the Hatori yet? Curious to see how those orings hold up my nitro one always leaked and blew the silicone coupler to. I have the old one on my spectra g with the stailless adapter. If i ever crash my spectra on the exaust i will need a new one and hate to spend a lot of money on some thing that leaks

Default Introduction - Hatori SB-12R Muffler - Flex mount

I have had maybe 20 flights on it and its holding up well so far. No problems with leaks or bolts coming loose.

I can now confirm that this new Hatori weighs 8.8oz

from my original muffler comparison HERE thats within 1/2oz of the lightest exhaust system I've seen

Someone needs to make a performance comparison with the Quickdraw and Hatori. And maybe the new BH pipe.

there will be significant differences between any muffler and the tuned pipes.

I had hoped to be able to do some relative comparisons via an engine dyno but its going to be a while before that can happen.

Just wondering, have you any sort of sealer or gasket between the muffler and the crankcase?

I always use the stock Zenoah gasket, it has material on it that sticks when it gets hot..........and replace it if I remove the muffler

Nope no sealer / gasket.

I polished both the exhaust flanges with fine wet/dry on a piece of flat steel (Small surface plate) until there were no high/ low spots and it is leak free.

The only thing that I have always done with any exhaust on a heli, Is to pre heat the bolts and fit them whilst hot, then dont over tighten them, just a firm nip up.

Never had an exhaust come loose /leak yet

Had mine arrive from the US yesterday and have just installed it with a stock exhaust gasket.
Will hopefully try it out later on.

A much better system of mounting I think as long as the heat doesn't destroy the o rings and mounting grommets.

I ran into someone flying one of these mufflers on a Trex 700 converted to gas with a VX270TT engine. I have to say it was a very quiet muffler. Much quieter then the Century V2 and the RJX that I has on my Whiplash gasser.

the Hatori's are super quiet and at least on the dyno tests I've seen allow the motors to make the most power they can with a muffler system

I see Hatori USA has the SB-12R for 225.00 and HeliProz is calling it the SB-12R-3. How's it holding up? Is the new mount doing better than the original 2 bolt type.

Default Hatori SB-12R

I've been using this pipe on my TRM G260PUH for the past 6months, started off reasonably quiet with a nice exhaust signature. Progressively, its gotten worse...its loud as heck now...I suspect the 2 high temp O rings are wearing out from the heat and need replacement between the header and the steel plate. Anybody know what part numbers I need and where to order from? Thanks

IMO is an absurd a muffler costs more than the engine itself. I would never pay it. Somethings people simply shouldn't support buying it.

Update on this product. I tried to order one direct from Hatori, and was told this product has been discontinued due to problems.

They now have a redesigned SB-12R been made stronger in the area where some had cracked in the past.

The SB-12R mounts like the RJX where you have a flange that bolts to the engine and the muffler bolts to that.

When bought direct from Hatori I paid about $235 shipped for the muffler.
