How low it will run and how efficient it will run depends on the gearing. You want a motor pinion that brings you to about 80% throttle to run the headspeed you want.

In my case, that meant running a 10T motor pinion to run about 2400 to 2800 headspeed. Unfortenately gearing options are somewhat limited since there is no 11T pinion as far as I know.
Use Mr.Mel headspeed calculator(google it) to find out what motor pinion will give you the headspeeds you wang.

from mels,,, with gov i get rpm range 2067 -2212 . without gov. i get 2937 -2610

why the big difference ??

also now with the sK540 update i have to choose , 500 size 2500 - 2800 as some sort of preset , so the 1st choice [above] is out of the question'

2 reasons for the difference are 1) the overhead needed to add throttle to maintain headspeed through maneuvers, and 2) that ungoverned headspeed is calculated with full battery voltage, whereas governed headspeed needs to be able to be maintained as the voltage drops during a flight.

The 10 tooth pinion is needed on the atom for 2500+ governed. I run the 9 tooth at 2450, haven't tried faster.
