Default LaTrax Alias quad

This looks interesting. Obviously a "toy" with its own transmitter, but still looks interesting. Especially after nailing a road sign with no damage.

I know! Seems pretty stout.

Question is were those shots done in one take, or did it take a few to get one that didn't break.

I picked one up for burning around the high school gymnasiums with.

Flies wonderfully. Quite stable too, and you can pop off the pads (blech) for sticks.

Has a decent flight time with the included battery (6-7 mins), has telemetry for the battery charge and when rate mode is activated, it flies a lot like a CP heli.

I've already whacked it into the wall a couple times and there was no damage. Plus, the owner of the LHS here decided to try and shoot it down with rubber bands. One got caught in the gear train, sending it down into the concrete floor. A few minutes later after picking out the rubber band and it was back in the air.

If one doesn't want to pick up the RTR box, they can buy the parts, and build one to use with say.. a spektrum radio and it won't cost an arm and a leg to get up in the air. Even the large gear pods look brushless friendly.

Recently got one and it's really fun to fly around the yard. Trying to get my 5 year old son into the hobby and this is a good starter for him. It take a beating. He hit walls, trees, car door, etc a few times. Still works. Now there is a minor scratch on my car

Lol.

Sorry about your door.

At least it wasn't a450 with CF blades spinning at 3k rpm that hit the door.

...Yeah, That's why cars have "Rocker Panels" so when "Rocks" get thrown against the lower body, the rubberized coating wont get dented....well, small rocks of course, not CF blades spinning at 3K...that's my story and I'm sticking to it...! LOL

I guess the question is, can you get your story by the body shop guy?

I still love that video of the quad going full bore squar into the no parking sign. That had to take some skill.

OOPS!!!
I'm moving to larger birds in my fleet but always have an eye out for small to mid sized to mess around with. Is it really worth investing in?

It's small and cheap enough to keep the thumbs in practice.

Default My Impressions

I've had mine for 3 weeks now, and I'm not a pro, but this bird is almost indestructible. I don't dare try the stuff you pros do, but push button stunts, super stability, even in the wind, and decent flight times? What's more, it wasn't made in China! Ok, I'm a 63 year old retiree who went from infrared, to coaxials, then built a Trex 250 with Spectrum electronics, but only flew it in single pitch. When I bought the NANO QX, I was astounded by the training benefits that quads provide, the Alias in particular. In mode 1, it floats around my living room with authority, and I've been able to walk it around the house, and I don't have an open concept first floor. The first time I took it outside before the snow hit, I hit the switch to mode 2, then the stunt switch. With a quick flip of the left stick forward, it performed a from flip and recovered to a very stable hover, requiring only small corrections. I search the net and now have a total of 8 spare batteries.

Flight times vary, but most are a minimum of 8 minutes. Anyone who is a beginner will love this, as well as the more seasoned. The 6 axis stability is amazing.

Nice review. Looking for battery options. This thing is so much fun. Im using the batteries from my Blade 120sr but they don't last long. Can't find an aftermarket option that will fit...

Just upgraded my alias with the chaoli 0820-15 motors tonight. Just need to wait for better weather to give it all she's got.

Default Motor upgrade

How did work out?

Speaking of durability.... Mine got ran over by a car in the first 5 mins of owning it, Now obvously it didn't fly as it was, but $40 in replacement parts and she was up and running.

I think this is the best entry level 180-ish (blows the doors off the 180QX) quad on the market. i challenge anyone to to disprove me. Obviously there are set metrics for this shootout
