Default Furion 6: Video overview and my thoughts

Well when I set out to try a MA product I went searching for videos. I found LOTS of videos of guys like Robert Ables really tearing up the sky with them, and I found a few build photos. I even found Pinon and Robert's unboxing video, but I didn't find anything that went over the final product and talked about this little things that make this heli so nice.

On the TeamHeliProz.com forum, I was asked to make a video review of one of my birds and I decided to do the MA Furion 6 FBL.

If this helps even one person buy one who was on the fence, then it was well worth the time.

Sorry for the length, there is just so much great stuff to talk about!

Great video

How do you feel about it's flight characteristics compared to the rest in your stable?

It's a very stable yet "wild" child. I love it. Quickly becoming my second choice. Not flying the e7 as much since the tt tail upgrade is close. But that will always be my favorite.

I hadn't flown the mavrikk 620s before, I think they are a touch slower than my edge and rail blades. I am considering trying the rail 606 on it. I wish rail made a blade between 606 and 696.

Sucked some gravel up Into my tail damaging the cf tails today. I am going to throw on a set of cf 96mm I have and see how it does. Hoping it holds well enough for my sport flying. Really want to fly this bird tomorrow with my brother but I don't trust the tails in their current state.

If you're going to run 95+mm tail blades, you should get one of the longer tail fins. I toasted a couple sets of 95mm carbon tail blades on mine doing sliding autos since I fly off of gravel, until I got the longer fin.

I think he is running the Custom Heli Parts longer fin already...

I've had gravel suck into the tails before, sucks.

Yep running the Custom Heli Parts tail fin with those Mavs. I did try the 96mm tails, at 2300rpm on the head, I couldn't get it to blow out, but I am NOT doing hard 3D. I will replace with Rail 106s when monies allow.

Thanks for the great video. Which hyperions are you using (mAh and C) and what kind of flight times would I get with them sport flying? Thanks!!!

The hyperions are VX G3 35 c 3300mAh 6S1P packs. With my sport flying I am comfortably getting 6 minutes. That is leaving the cells @ 3.83 rested.

cool! I'm trying to figure out the cost of batteries for a 12s set up. The batts you are using come out to be 538gr each. That gets you a bit under the 1200gr target weight you mentioned. I take it things still balance ok?

I noticed that TunderPower 45C 6s 3850 packs come in right at 607gr and have a dimension of
49mm x 44mm x 136mm. Would this be a good option? I fly e-gliders and this is a battery I might be able to "re-purpose" one day. Of course with the TP comes more cost but if it can play with other toys it might be worth it.

Thanks again for your post and video. It's making me much more comfortable exploring a 12s setup.

They are a bit under the recommendation yes, but there is plenty of room to slide them forward and the balance comes out nice!

Thanks for the feed back cd. Based on the size and weight how do you think the TP 45C 3850 will fit and balance?

I think they will fit. I don't have my batts in front of me, but I think those TP batts are a bit wider. You might have to get creative on the battery tray to get the loop strap through. When I get home I can measure the span of the strap slots.

I just realized i spect out the hyperions i have as a second pack. The batteries in the video are Spyder 30c 3300mAh 6S1P packs.

Here is the link:
http://www.progressiverc.com/spyder-...00mah-30c.html

These are even lighter but as I said , I just put the packs as close to the front of the battery plate as I can and they balance well.

I guess I should make a note on that while 1200g is ideal, 1050-1100 is doable if you adjust the batteries properly.

Thanks for the help! I like the "economy" of the 3300 hyperions. How the TP would fit and balance might help me decide which packs I should go with.

Thanks for going into the details that make the Furion 6 unique.

I couldn't help but notice that the Spektrum sat which is mounted closest to the mini-V is positioned such that the antennae blanketed by the carbon frame. Has this given you any trouble?

Have you considered flipping that sat 180º such that the antennae are above the top edge of the side frame? Would there still be sufficient clearance for the canopy?
