Default AR8000 VS AR7700

I'm thinking of switching from an AR8000 to a AR7700
What are the advantages or disadvantages other than the faster
serial connection ?

If it was a Brain I was going to suggest using the SPM 4649T diversity receiver.

I think the key feature of the 7700 is the support for some serial protocols. I don't know that it's faster necessarily - you're still limited by the radio transmission frame rate (11ms at best).

I believe that the SRXL protocol on the 7700 is a Spektrum version of SRXL, so it's not a "standard" SRXL.

If you plan to use the serial link, do plenty of research to make sure it's compatible with your flight controller.

flightengr hit the nail on the head. If you want to use Spektrum srxl ensure the FBL controller is compatible with this protocol. The 7700 PPM signal is slow and restricted to eight channels only so don't go this route. The 4649T would still be an option in a much smaller package if Spirit will do Spektrum srxl, just make sure you don't supply over 7.5V to it. You can also go sat output on the 7700 and connect it to a sat port on the FBL unit, you need an adapter for this.

If I were you I'd be buying this: https://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/...dID=SPMAR9320T

SRXL output, dual receiver (better than simple diversity found in the 4649T as you have full receiver redundancy) and telemetry integrated.

The linked to receiver is not bi-directional SRXL communication and requires all the other "stuff" to have telemetry. 4649T with a Brain and HW or CC ESC is a very neat, powerful telemetry package.

In the end, it only matters what works for you whichever route you go.
