Default ESC/BD3SX/Futaba R617FS connection.

Rick,
I looked at the connection diagram you posted.
I've been flying airplanes for 20+years and I'm trying Helicopters now. I have a TREX 500L, BD3SX, Futaba 18SZ and using a Futaba R617FS receiver. According to the BD3SX connection I connected the COL to the throttle (channel3) of the receiver. Should I use a "Y" harness on that channel and connect the ESC there too? I have not connected the ESC and ran through the BD3SX wizard and it seems to working correctly. The swash plate moves up and down in response to the throttle stick. Thanks,

Dave

Dave,
I will try to help but I want to point out that the subject of this thread is how to do power connections. Your question is about channel assignments. If what follows is wrong, then you should post in the main 3SX area and more people with better Futaba experience are more likely to see your question and help.

I have never used a Futaba RX but I did a quick search and found this
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=265695

So it looks like Col should go to 6 and your ESC goes to 3.

When you use a full RX (not a Sat or single line connection like sbus) each function has its own RX port. You would never want Collective and Throttle (ESC) on the same channel. They need to be on separate channels or you could never do Idle Up. The fact that it seems to work is probably just a coincidence because you must have linear Throttle and Pitch curves in your TX (maybe by default) and they are both on your left stick.
