Default Thumb position for pinch grip

Hello,

I'm curious where folks put their thumbs who use two fingers. Thumbs-only is too twitchy for me at the moment so I'm experimenting with pinching.

Specifically do you have your thumb on top like the below PDF or on the side of the stick?

Any other comfort or performance thoughts?

I Was watching a video on this last night, seems it's whatever is most comfortable to you. They suggested closing your eyes and trying to grip the most comfortable way possible.

I ended up with thumb on top of stick and finger infront.
Full pinch just seems too awkward for me.

Good point, that makes sense. I've been mostly full pinch, but was thinking top thumb could be more comfortable. Haven't had time to try much.

I was a thumber for a long time, then one day on the sim I decided to try pinching. It was strange at first then I started settling into thumbs on top and finger in front! I feel I have a bit more control personally.

I keep both my thumb and finger on the side of the stick all the time . On the left stick At one time I switched between thumb and pinch depending on what I was doing. Now I only pinch on both sticks .

By all means it's good to experiment. But if you only just started flying, you may find the twitchiness is mainly due to your setup being a bit too fast for you. Just something else to consider. There certainly isn't a right or wrong way to hold the sticks, it's a very personal preference thing. I'm a pure thumber BTW. I tried pinching too at first, but it just didn't feel right to me.

Man, I'm new at all of this, but coming from video games, so I started as a thumb only kind of guy. I'll certainly give the full pinch idea a try on a SIM to see what/if I'm missing.
