Default Hawk grabbed my 120S Heli

I was out flying one of my cheap 120S's this afternoon and a Hawk swooped down and grabbed it from about 40 feet up. It had to have a 5-6 foot wingspan. I always see them circling and soaring but never expected they would do this. I've seen them grab field mice before.
Anyway I did get the heli back when the canopy came off and it dropped. The canopy went with the Hawk I guess and the tail fin is also gone. I hope they don't attack my larger ones.
I have an extra 120SR red tail fin so I ordered a Red Angry Bird canopy to replace it. It seemed fitting.

It's an FP and it's a bit breezy so it went up higher than I usually fly it. I was waiting for my daughter to get home from school as we fly the 120's together. She wants a 200S when they come available. I've tried to get her interested in the 230S but she wants to stay with FP.

Great stuff! I have large dragonflies in the field behind my house and they will often come out to play, especially with the Oxy. Some days I will instantly have 3-4 of them flitting around as soon as I go up.

Looks fine on this end. I guess I could change it. They are roosting on top of one of my pinball machines under a neon light. Good now ?

Default Hawk and Barred Owl

I live on 2.5 acres, mostly wooded. So, I fly my Nano CPS in the clear area in front of my house. I crashed into the grass a couple of months ago and a Red Shouldered Hawk instantly landed on the Nano and grabbed it but immediately let it go and took off. I hadn't seen the hawk before it pounced. Must have been watching from a perch in the trees. A few weeks later a Barred Owl swooped the Nano in the air then landed in an oak on the edge of the open area and watched me fly for the rest of the battery.
It's like fishing with an artificial lure. I would throttle hold the Nano to avoid injuring the raptors if I realized it was a target soon enough. I've been flying in my yard for about a year now and this only happened those two times.

Don't forget the squirrels They are fun to chase and tree. Then they chatter at your heli. I love chasing them with the K110. I've increased my fleet significantly since that picture. I just started hanging some on the wall as I ran out of room on that pinball machine.

Ha Ha lol that is great! I was flying the other day and I noticed a hawk circling and eying me up. I later realized that I see that often, here in the farms of P.A. Big birds of prey like to have their nests in the treeline close to fields, to have access to easy prey ( field mice?).

They glide around the nest wary of the invader, but I would not like to ever see one try to make a move on a 3-4000w 550. It would not be pretty. Hopefully they are smarter than that. It is awesome to think that they defend the turf, though, and to see a bird carry away my micro would crack me up.

Sparrow hawks love sizing my micros up but have not yet grabbed one. Humming birds and Dragon Flys come out and join us, pretty neat
