And I think Compusmurf deserves a free "helifreak" T-shirt for this.

I don't deserve anything for this. I tried to find the best if the best goodies and get it into one place with links back to it. Since it is a combined forum, stuff disaopears quickly. I made it for myself on my pc then someone mentioned I should share it after they reviewed it for anything missing.

Here's one for you...

How to get a feathering shaft with stripped screws out of the head without destroying anything.

Answering somebody's question I came to my favorite source of information and realized that in the Contact info, the phone# was missing.
I've always had more success calling directly then sending an email, so maybe it should be included. Tim may not be very proud of me if he get swamp but anyway here it is.

Tel 562 598-4700 Fax 562 598-4702

Thanks for that very useful thread. I'm glad it's sticky.

Might be worth mentioning about the stiffer frame available in the frame/swash combo as discussed here:
http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=605897

I'm hoping / presuming it will become the standard stock frame eventually - hence why I'm still holding off buying the 150 for now.

Got it, was planning on this after learning something new yesterday.

Added under body/frame section.

Keep the goodies coming!

I seem to be having some servo issues and I'm sure I can't be the only one this has happened to.

At the end of the video, after initializing, one or more servos just seem to be running like crazy. I removed the servo arms from the horns and the horns are not moving.

Stripped servo gears buddy.

This is a good post. But I'd like to add my two cents. I posted before, randomly, what I've done to my 150 to make it awesome. I'll add it in here too, because the original post is missing a few things from my list.

This list assumes you're using ALL of the Align metal and v2+ plastic upgrades.

CF mainshaft from Microheli
Servo saver mod (see my sticky)
Lynx dampers and extra shims
Lynx titanium feathering shaft
BLHeli flashed ESC (optional, but recommended)

With these mods, I've crashed my 150 countless times and I can pick it up, straighten the servo horns (and maybe the tail boom i bent too) and fly again right away. It's seriously awesome. The Lynx FS doesn't bend, and the CF mainshaft not only doesn't break, but also seems to improve the vibration issues.

This past weekend was the Vegas funfly. I couldn't make it, so I held my own funfly in my alley on Saturday

This is governed at only 75%. Note: very windy so please excuse my sloppiness :-P

These 3 are already in there.

Servo saver mod (see my sticky)
extra shims
BLHeli flashed ESC (optional, but recommended)

The others are VENDOR specific and the faq is supposed to remain vendor neutral.

Considering multiple vendors offer CF main shafts and aftermarket shims and aftermarket feathering spindles.... Those should be pretty much easy to find.

Xtreme, Lynx, Microheli, Rakon, etc.

I understand the desire to remain vendor neutral. However, the point of this thread is what you can do to guarantee a reliable, well flying heli. So, while there may be other aftermarket main and feathering shafts, I can't vouch for them personally. I want to pass on to others a guarantee of a micro that can be slammed into concrete without having bent shafts, and I can only do that by specifying what I've personally used. Others' after market parts may offer the same durability; I really hope they do. I just can't personally guarantee it.

yeah, kinda falls under personal preference. I may like Rakon, you may like Xtreme, etc.

I suspect, generally speaking, most aftermarket CF shafts will probably be fine, most hardened feathering shafts will probably be fine.

I smacked mine into the sidewalk last night. Flying near dark and didn't have my contacts in so I was having a hard time seeing it so I was intending to keep it close....

Pretty hard smack, battery went flying and shattered the tail blade and that was it. I was rather shocked.

Of course, I have those said aftermarket parts on mine.

I fly mine in the alley behind my place and it slammed it into the cement. It bent the tail boom 45 degrees. I hand straightened it, notched the servo arms back in place, and was back up.

Such a far cry from what it was like when I first got this heli, hit the grass and was completely out of luck til I could get more parts.

How many shims are you using with your Lynx dampners?

I am using 2 per side.
Ok, anybody notice that the elevator servo wants to bind at the bottom of the antirotation guide and try to bend the servo at the frame mount when you use max neg pitch, elevator and aileron? Cant be good if you are doing full piro flips with this thing. I am only using 12 degrees of pitch too. What I did to relieve some stress was to grind the slot a little longer and it helps

I have noticed the binding at full negative and full cyclic. I'd be really interested in seeing your piro flips if you're jamming both sticks at the same time. With proper collective management you should never be in that situation.

I also filed down the ARB slot

In the end, I settled on 4 shims per side using the Lynx FS and dampners.

Right on man....the mod helps relieve the stress on the servo if it ever does try to bind

Come to think about it, in a crash the swash could go to those extremes and destroy the frame and servo.
Btw, I did do the servo saver mod and had a light crash. The gears didnt strip but the servo motor got weaker and wouldnt hold position if I pushed down on it. Had issues trying to fly the damn thing and crashed again...So I check all the servos now after a crash, even with the mod
