Trex 450 FBL vs DFC Head Conversion

I have a Trex 450 sport (V1 I believe) with the FBL head. I was looking at the new 450 DFC head and potentially getting one, but the product description says the DFC is "suitable for pro and sport V2 models," without any mention of the V1.

Does anyone happen to know if the DFC conversion will fit on a V1 sport main shaft, and is it even worth the $50 to convert from the FBL head to the DFC one? From an aesthetic point of view, I definitely like the DFC setup better, but is there really any difference in the overall performance?

I recently converted my 450 pro fbl to DFC. My main reason for doing it was for a cleaner look and a lower head. Once i got it in the air i could tell that the heli was more crisp and flipped faster. Maintenance is easier as well. All in all, i would say yes, its worth the $50.

Also, the dfc set comes with its own shorter main shaft. Im not familiar with the v1 sport, whats the diameter on your shaft?

On the Sport V1 you either need the DFC shaft specific to the SE/Sport V1 or you can do like I did and swap the bearing in the top bearing holder for a slightly shorter one. Traxxas makes the most common one used but I don't remember the size or part number of hand. A quick search for Sport DFC should give you the info you need.

If I'm looking at the right stuff, it appears to be a 5mm diameter main shaft, but I could be reading things wrong.

I assume you also switched to the DFC swashplate as well?

No still using the stock swash. Just removed the 2 un-needed balls. Looks pretty clean.

Did you have any issues with the new head clearing the anti rotation bracket? That is the only thing that looks like it might interfere with a shorter main shaft for the DFC head. The standard FBL head is pretty tall.
