Question: How to disassemble clutchbell?
Hi together,
I have a selaed clutchbell with set-screws at the sides. I would likt to take a closer look at the sprag. Is there a way to remove (and possibly remout) the brass-shim on the top which is sealing the clutch, without ruining it? It seems to be press-fitted. Thanks. Kind regards George |

Heat the clutchbell, then pop out the brass with a flatheaded screwdriver.
I got mine out without heating it, but it will be a bit more gentle operation with some heat.

As stated above . pops right out with a flat head screw driver.

Gave it a try, but it did not work out. Heated it to about 90°C (194°F) with a hot air gun and yet it did not want to move the slightest bit. The screwdriver would rather break off the edges.. Much hotter I do not want to go because it would ruin the bearings. Will have to use a Dremel when the sprag says bye-bye.
Maybe I got the concrete-version, if all parts hold up like it... Kind regards George |
