Default New bird

Alright, Freaks. Here's the scoop, I've been out of the hobby for a few years now, and I am getting back in hardcore. I recently bought an E7 off a guy on "the other site." This is the system I am putting in it:

Synergy e7
Spektrum DX7
12s Pulse Packs 45c 4500mAh
Scorpion 4525-520
CC Edge 160 HV
JR 8717s
iKon FBL system w/DSM2 sats
SAB 710mm

Any and all tips, ideas, $0.02, experience, etc is GREATLY appreciated.

Welcome back. I am just waiting on my first synergy to show up in the mail myself.

You will love your E7! If its the original E7 kit then i would put the se head on it and change the main gear/ pinion over to the new style. Neither of these things are critical, but the se head is better for 3d. Nothing wrong with running the old style gear but the newer one is supposedly more efficient.

That set up looks great. I second the SE head it's just cleaner looking if not for the performance alone. With the equipment you picked you obviously know helis or at least did some research so all I would say now is to tear everything down and rebuild it, lubing up everything and greasing all the bearings so you know it's done right. Enjoy your synergy. Everyone here does and I have heard literally nothing bad about one.

Welcome to the Synergy family!

I agree the se head and main gear/pinion are great upgrades. Will need the e7se/e5 main shaft too. The original e7 head flies great though if you want to fly now.

If you have any trouble with the ikon let me know. I have a thread on the ikon/msh brain forum with video walk throughs on ikon setup.

The heli I got is a non-se, but it does have the TT conversion.
I'm gonna fly this for a while, then upgrade heads when I get a little extra $$.
I appreciate the iKon help. I know helis inside and out...flybarless? Not so much.

Thank you to all that replied. I am very excited about this new purchase, and I'm ready to rock

Default My shopping spree is paying off!!!

After spending quite a bit to get the best set up, the mail man has not disappointed! The batteries, servos, dsm sats, and blades are here. Heli is scheduled to arrive on Monday! The motor, esc, and iKon should be in later next week.

I am so ready to get airborn with this bird. The bad part is I will be out of town for a bit and won't get back till the following Wednesday (13th). So, I'll have to wait till then to tear the bird apart and rebuild with fresh lock tight, oil, etc. I hope to get it in the air by that weekend (16th-17th).

I will be keeping y'all in the loop and asking questions as I go!
Thanks for all the support and answers this far!

I have over 860 flights on my non SE E7 and it flies great. Yes the SE head is very nice but not a must. Fly your non SE E7 I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Yea, I plan on leaving it as is for now. This setup is setting me back financially for a bit.
So, it will be a while before I'm spending for the heck of it on this bird.

One awesome feature of ikon is the bluetooth dongle and the android app. That combined with the three flight banks makes setup super fast.

Another feature I like is the self level. I've had to use it a few times, but it's helped me progress knowing I have a panic button to help if needed.

The self level is not the end all be all. I hit it when i was inverted and i didnt have my collective center and it pulled so hard that the blade moved and boom struck and fell about 60 feet straight to the ground. Just make sure you set level on a nice flat surface and make sure the gain isnt too high and take it up high and check it in case it tries to drive it in then you can fine tune it in the advanced menu

I started using Soko tool and method for leveling my heli to a perfect "0" pitch and hit set level during same time and found it to be awesome! Between a hands off hover, and SL working great must recommend Soko method of swash set-up. Been flying Brain/Icon since release and never really messed with SL before. Had few problems early on and just put aside. Decided to give it a shot once more and haven't used , but testing its working great. Have it on my Protos500, E5, and Goblin630, going to reset all my helis with it.

I agree with crikr1 on using the Soko tool to setup your heli. It will be dead nuts on if you do. And, there is a new App coming from Soko that will make it even easier. I fly a Synergy N7 and love every second it is in the air.

At the risk of sounding really ignorant....what's a Soku tool?
