I noticed yesterday that every time I performed an inverted punch out, the tail would blow out. Other than that, it was flying great. I've changed nothing since last being able to perform the same maneuver without this issue. What's changed then? I still have an intermittent wobble that I see during a hover, but I'm pretty sure that's from worn out dampeners. I'll probably swap them out for new stock ones or some green truebloods. Could that be the problem? I noticed that the magnitude of the blow out is related to how much negative pitch I input. It can hover inverted without an issue. It's almost like it doesn't have enough tail pitch available to counter the torque... Any ideas on what to check?

I just came back from the field, flying four more packs, and it didn't happen at all this time... I did notice that the tail was a little sloppy when I did a full negative punch out, more so when I would do it quickly.... but it never blew out on me. I checked for any binding in the tail grips, but it felt smooth..

In my experience with FBL and with the old HH gyros (regardless of brand) ... it was always due to mechanical issues. Anytime the tail stutters, or swings to one side more than the other, uneven piro rate, etc. etc. - usually goes back to not properly set up system. I never had to send my gyro (or my tail servo) in for repair.
That said, have you setup the tail as per BeastX Tunig guide ... http://helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=279967 That writeup really helped me setup my tail properly. cheers, Khan |

I have known about the tuning guide for some time, but I've only used it to setup everything else but the tail. Until now, I haven't had any gripe with how the tail has been behaving, so I skipped that step. I'll redo the setup this weekend. Thanks!
