DX7 Hanging strap mod

I didn't come up with this but I'm documenting it here for everyone.
Considering it cost less than $2 it's not bad. It's not pretty but the job is done.

The DX7 has an issue of not hanging level due to the position of the lanyard loop on the radio. A simple solution that will not damage the radio is to purchase a 1/4 inch bolt with an eye on the end that's 1 1/2 inches long on the bolt (2 1/2 inches over all with the loop). I used a regular nut on the inside and a teflon locking nut on the outside. If I wanted to adjust it I'd need to shorten the bolt slightly but this is easily done with a hacksaw and a file. Personally I found the eye bolt at Lowes and didn't need to do anything to it. I wanted a small flat washer but couldn't find one with the OD small enough.

I saw this post just after reacting to this mod by PsychoPilot145 in the DX7 lipo thread. But I think its a great idea so good to make a separate thread.

I covered the open thread part of the bolt with heatshrink

I couldn't reach the power button easily, so I decided to bent the bolt upwards: (Don't try to do that on the tx, you'll break it!)

Covering with heatshrink is a good idea........think I'll do that too.

Tnx........yep, (Used the WorkMate) ..last 2cm thread held tight and just bend it around with a big screwdriver or so. Clamp it in between wood otherwise you damage the thread.

Of course if you like taking things apart Matt (Tickitytoc) came up with this mod... It requires you do dissassemble the radio though but MAN is it a clean way... He also added a LED in the old hole to show it is on.

Why, after this being a problem with JR radios for years, Is no one pissed about this?
I like the fixes...don't get me wrong.
