Default Using main and balance plug to power things...

I'm adding a 40x40x10mm fan which is capable of 8.4 volts to my Goblin ESC. I use a 2s lipo under the belly. the fan has amp draw of .29amp, will the 2S lipo care if I use the balance plug(outer 2 pins = 8.4v) to power the fan... while the 12g supply wire feeds the FBL system simultaneously?

Thanks,
-Markus

That's sounds fine to me. A good charger will pull more than .29A through those connections whilst balancing.

Thanks, it's a 2200mah 30c 2s. I couldn't imagine it would have any issue delivering a bit more power to a small fan which would affect its ability to maintain power to my HV servos

Goblins like to heat up ESC's. I'm curious how much the fan will help

FYI :

Several flights like this and no negative impact. I can't even notice a measurable difference in pack voltage after 3 flights while running the fan..

Great summer fix for a hot (ish) ESC!

I powered my LEDs like this on my night flyer. Many flights and never an issue.

You can safely draw up to about 4 amps from the balance tap. My old power lab charger (4S) used to charge from the balance taps only and had a max current of 4a. Also modern balance chargers discharge at up to 1-2A from the balance tap when charging.

However you will need to keep an eye out for cell imbalance if you draw out too high current from a single cell.

This would only be problematic if you don't tap into all cells of the lipo ausing cell imbalance. Event hat could be done and being balanced by the charger but you*'d get different IR over time. Since you run it at 8.4v I don't see how it could harm the lipo.
