Default Scorpion 3026-1400 Upgrade

Hi all, I just got a trex 500 esp and was a little disappointed with the power. I found a scorpion hk3026-1400kv. can anyone tell me if it mounts to the trex 500 esp, or do I need to modify somthing. Also can you recommend a pinion with a 60amp esc.

I used one for a while with the stock esc. No problems
15T seemed to be the sweet spot.

Was pretty hard on my packs so I lowered the TC to around 90. I tried a 14T and the head speed was kind of low.

I am using 2600mah packs. 3000's would have an easier time with that kv motor.

I didn't check with stock bottom plate but with the KDE plate the 3026-1400 fit just fine.

Edit: 1320-1400 motor and wires fit through the opening in the stock plastic bottom plate as well.

The motor should fit right in for sure if it's the V2 version, which I'm almost certain any motors being sold by now are. The V1 had a lock collar that might have caused some trouble, but I'm not sure, never used one. Anyway, you will either have to shorten the motor shaft a little, or else switch to a non-Align pinion that doesn't have the step in the bore, in order to get the pinion lined up with the gear. I just cut my shaft with a dremel, not hard to do. And as long as you have the dremel out, I'd put a small flat on the shaft for the set screw as well.

Now if it was me getting a new Scorpion, honestly I think I would put some aftermarket bearings in it right away, and save the risk of an early bearing failure. My stock bearings barely made 40 flights anyway, and some here have reported failures almost right away. The bearings are pretty easy to change, which is one thing I really like about this motor.

Just my two cents, hope that helps,

Al

Hi Beensoko,

Two weeks ago I installed a Scorpion 1400 in my 2 months old T500 CF. It fitted without any problem, using the stock ESC and a 15T Rhino Gear (100% flat throttle curve). I like the rotor speed and the resulting handling capabilities, far better than my weak stock 500L which had approx 50 flights. I oil the stock bearing on the 1400 once a week (every 10 flights), they still feel very smooth for the moment.
