Maybe a little more info about this event would help.

There is a different cd this year so i am not sure of the direction he may be interested in going. I also am no longer a member of this club. I was asked to post this to try and get some momentum going for this event. If there are any questions please feel free to call the cd and i am sure he would be willing to fill you guys in on any other details. Thank you guys for your interest.

I went to this event last year but it was the only time I've been there. It is just west of I-95 (I think we could see the highway entrance ramp for 95 south from the flight line). If I remember correctly after you exit I-95 head west then turn left at Redwine's Garage (which showed up on Google Maps). The field can accomodate several flight stations and the sun was a problem in the morning (I crashed first flight...). As I recall the area behind the flight line is off limits (private property - fenced in) but then you shouldn't be flying back there anyway. I think they had basic food available and there may also be fast food available up by the highway. There may have been an auto-rotation contest but other than that it was open flying. Apparently there is a new CD so I don't know what they have in mind for this year. They were all friendly people and I look forward to going back.

I apologize. I was under the impression you were meaning more of like raffle prizes. Or the food. As for everything that mr.d said he is correct. The raffle prize Is still being decided. There will be a autorotation contest, and a drag i believe that there will be a trophy for each event. Also as for food I believe that it will be basic like hamburger or hot dog. I believe that that the flight stations will be moved to accommodate the need for larger airspace. Hope this helps to get the word out better.

Thank you again,

Default Goodyear as landmark, not Redwine?

Last year I know Redwine's Garage showed up on Google Maps at the turnoff for the field but apparently it has moved to a new location much further away from the highway. Once you exit the highway and head west (only a short distance) there is a road to the left which goes to the field. Just a little further, and probably within view, is a large "Goodyear" sign on the right side of Hwy 46.

Also - it does NOT appear as though there is fast food at the exit. Last year they did cook burgers & hot dogs on site.

I hope this helps.

Mister d there is a fast food restaurant at this exit it is a burger king, Also 1 exit south there is a lot more options for fast food and restaurants at exit 173.
If anyone remembers I was the cd for this event last year. Even though I am no longer affiliated with this club I am still trying to get the word out. Because no one with the club knows how to use this site to post events. Also please feel free to use the cd's number that is posted above.

Nope.

I am Tom Daniel that flies with Tee out of the NC Space Cowboy field in Greenville, NC. We all came up last year and had a great time. I am the one that has the two boys with me all of the time since they are both really into the hobby.

I really look forward to seeing everyone again. The event was very relaxed and everyone had a good time. The folks that fly at the field were a pleasure and outstanding hosts.

It is worth the trip to visit them.

Think me and a gang of 5 or 6 out of the Newport News Park RC Club are coming over.
Pretty much the crew that organizes Helis Over Tidewater.
We need a play day!
