Thumbs up M120D01 unflyable out of the box

I have an M120D01, which I purchased from Wow Hobbies.

When I received it, it was completely unflyable. Twitchy, uncontrollable and unstable.

Is there an initial setup guide, processes, to make this bird flyable?

I have the 2801 pro tx and rx2616v.

I've flown before and would have thought I'd be able to fly this. I'm no pro, but would have thought I could at least hover.

I've heard there is a basic mode (3 axis) as opposed to pro (6 axis).

I have to say I'm a 3D novice and may have bought something way above my ability.

Any serious advice would be appreciated.

Regards,

dav

Sounds like a collective pitch helicopter in the hands of a novice.
Maybe find somebody with CP skills to test fly your new heli.

The best analogy I've read was this:

Coaxial and FP helicopters are like trying to balance a marble on the inside of a bowl.
Pretty easy self centering.

Collective pitch helicopters are like trying to balance a marble on the bottom outside of the bowl.
Always runs away, requires continual correction to hover in one spot.

My advice, practice. That "continual correction" will soon be automatic muscle memory.

The rewards of learning CP are worth it.

I have had a M120D01 before. I could hover and fly circuits with it but it is almost unflyable when I tried FFF. The problem is with the gyro which is old and no longer produced. It will fly much better if you replace it with one for the V120D02S. However, I am not sure whether you can still get one for the WK 2801 pro.

The 2616 is only a three axis gyro but could be erratic at times as it was a early Walkera rd gyro. The 2622v was the upgraded version that works with the 2801. Really good 3 axis gyro. I still have the Devo version of the 2622V-D in 2 of my V120's. I use the 2636H-D, Walkeras current RX ,(6 axis) in my M120. Super stable, my favorite sports flyer. I do have a used 2622V left over that I could part with.
