I finally received mine today about 7pm this thing is bigg. I was checking the price yesterday at HMU an yes they're cheaper than anybody else for the 500 but I use them for my 300X & 450X. I was checking the prices for upgrades for the 500 just see how much for FBL or metal upgrades. Need to checkout how it flies stock.

Apparently I'm in the minority, but I think the 500 is fairly small. My wife said it was cute sitting next to the Raptor. Funny thing is the E360's boom is almost as long as the Blade's.

See 2nd pic: I think I can make this work with a little quality time with the Dremel and a sanding drum. If so I'll repaint the canopy in the MSH scheme with Blade 500 instead of Protos down the middle.

Yeah, size is all relative. When I first got mine my wife was all "My God, what did you do!" A few days later I took her to IRCHA and she saw all the 700s buzzing around--then she thought it was "cute" too!

Being a lousy heli pilot, I didn't want to blow up a set of perfectly good and expensive carbon blades, so I ordered a couple of pairs of cheap glass 430mm blades from Helidirect. However, they're for lowly Align 500s with their puny 3mm blade bolts, so, naturally, they won't fit with the huge 4mm bolts on the Blade. Solution? Simply press out the bushings with an arbor press, chuck each up in the lathe, bore them out with a 5/32" drill (nearly exactly 4mm), deburr, and press them back into the blades. Problem solved in 10 minutes

Without a lathe I'd say your best bet is hunting down someone with a lathe or finding some 5mm OD x 4mm ID x 10mm brass bushings, possibly at Fastenal, McMaster, or similar. If you're near the north side of Houston PM me and I'll do it. Takes about 10 minutes if I don't have everything ready. The $12 blades aren't perfect, but they fit the grips very well and they're cheap. Order a couple of sets and match them by weight. It took 5 pairs of 325mm blades from the same people to get a set of 5 for my MD500E within .1 grams, but I'm a bit nuts about that.

The replacement revolution blade for the 500X has to be punched also an they fly them with no the inserts. I have some $14 430mm Hobbypartz CF blades same small insert just punched out with a Phillips screwdriver seems to fit fine no shim is needed in blade grips. p.s. I was at Ultimate hobbies today an there walk in price for the 500 3D was $234

Some blades have a 4mm hole bushed to 3mm, which just need the bushing pushed punched out, others have a 5mm hole the needs to be bushed to 4mm. Don't try to fly with that much slop, the carbon or glass will chew through the screw.

Just got a set of Revolution carbon blades from Horizon for $15, knowing they wouldn't bolt on. Punched out the bushings in the arbor press, turned new bushings, bored the blades to fit, pressed in new bushings, and they're perfect. Took maybe half an hour and I had some 1/4" 6061 sitting around. The blades are within .05 grams overall and less than .10 grams different at the tips. Works for me, so I ordered another pair to have around for the inevitable rekitting.

I still see it on both the Bladehelis site and then when you click buy it now, it takes you to the Horizon site where it says back ordered.

Default Why not just get a 500X for $461 ?

advantagehobby.com has a 500x for $461.00 free shipping!

Use coupon code “NEWCUSTOMER”

Figure the Beastx & battery are worth $250. That’s $211 for a 500 size Heli.

Not sure exactly what you mean by a "Jr Aircraft Radio", but by my definition of what an aircraft radio is (or at use to be), it won't work with a heli. You need a heli option.

On the otherhand if you mean it is a transmitter for flying aircraft (any kind) as opposed to a surface radio for cars or boats, and does have a heli setup, then you want the 120 degree swash for a flybar heli like the 3D.

I recommend you look over the Finless heli setups here.
