Default Piro Drift

Only been flying the mcpx for a few weeks after moving on from the 120Sr so I know that this is a whole new thing but I am having trouble doing even simple piro's. The thing just lets go and fly's off in one direction or the other. Bad piloting or a characteristic of this heli??? (probably the former I think)
I have my DX6i set according to the manual, if that matters.

Characteristic of the heli.

You can improve it with perfect COG and minimal vibrations.

Double check for level swash-plate at all collective pitch ranges.
Check that the tail rotor blades are at the same AoA.

Remember that for level flight the heli tends to require a slight right bank attitude to offset the tail rotors natural tendency to make it want to drift left,
This is where the problem usually starts.

The As3x has no pirouette compensation unlike higher end fbl systems such as the Ar7200bx and will want to hold last commanded attitude.

As the heli yaws, the gyro holds that little bit of cyclic during the whole turn without additional input from the pilot. This is where it 'lets go and flies off'

Thanks folks, I will check all those things and just get used to it. About half the time it does it perfect but I notice that I have to have it in a really stable hover, not moving around, for it to rotate well.

Setting your transmitter to the factory settings is probably a part of the problem for you. I would use tamed down settings so the heli is a lot more docile. You can search for beginner settings - I used them when I first started and it helped a lot.

Actually, the thread is currently on the same page as your thread - Beginner settings for MCPX & DX6i

You are right about that but I figured I would have to make it more aggressive in time so I just started that way. Over the last week I have been flying "idle up" and that has really helped. You folks probably know this already but it seems the constant rotor speed makes even simple moves easier. One less thing to control!
