Broken DX6i Antenna
Earlier today I managed to bump and break the antenna on my DX6i transmitter. The plastic body of the antenna is completely severed but the intenal wire appears intact. Given this, is it OK to tape up the antenna and carry on or will this reduce the transmitter's range/function?

It will function just fine with tape until you can put a new one in.

I ripped my wire, and resoldered it, works good. Just have to be carefull, the wire is a COAX and you do not solder the outside shield. Only the center wire to the antenna.

I did the same thing to mine. I read that you couldn't get replacement antennas so I just CA'd the pieces back together.

I wouldn't risk having a range fail mid-air and losing a heli. Here's a link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/SPMR75000-Spektr...item45fa3e5b31 only 9 bucks and you fly relaxed rather than saving money but having the antenna issue on the back of your mind. |

If you fix it right, there will be no range fail. It's an antenna, not the booster cell of the Space Shuttle....

Same thing happened to me - broke the little plastic link on one side; wire still intact. I ran a small screw through the broken side into the clean other side of the antenna joint, being careful not to damage the wire. Works great - toggle works fine, and I have over 200 flights on it since then with no problems. Bought a replacement antenna, but no need to install now...
