Default Which RPM sensor?

Does anyone here run an external governor on their Mini P? I'm thinking about using the governor on my Skookum SK540 instead of the YGE gov. Mainly just to play around with it and learn about it before I stretch it. Which RPM sensor would you recommend?

I got mine here: http://helidirect.com/rpm-sensor-p-26366.hdx. Few shops carry them.

Thanks how did the installation go? Is it simple? Do you have to solder it to the motor wires? Would you say it's worth the hassle over using the ESC gov?

Here's my write up about enabling the v-bar gov on my mini -> https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=460223

I soldered to motor side of the ESC rather than motor wires - I wanted an external governor enabled speedo after all Pretty easy procedure and SOOOO MUCH worth it

Thanks mate I'm most scared about soldering the wires lol. So did you just need to cut off the existing shrink tube, solder then re-shrink tube? I've heard the Skookums gov is decent so want toplay around with it

Nothing to be afraid of I used a scalpel to peel off a couple milimeters off the insulation, put a turn of the sensor wire around the motor cable and soldered the whole thing together.
I always use double shrink tube on motor connectors just to be sure. It's not necessary on these small motors as voltage is not high enough to produce the same kind of sparks big motors do.

Btw, you have Revolectrix packs in your signature.... How do you like them? I just got a PL8 from Revo and holy something of someplace, that thing works awesome! Got me thinking a bit

Thanks for the info I can't get over how cheap the sensor is!

I have a Powerlab 6. What awesome chargers they are. Love the PC software too! I love the Revo batteries, especially the quality for the price! I run a flat line curve of 75% on normal and get 6min flight time with 30% left in the pack. I use the platinum label packs (40C rating)

Just found my hobby shop i usually order form in Australia stocks the Hyperion ones : http://www.zeejayhobbies.com.au/elec...prod_6523.html

It says "solder up a male/female connector adapter for convenience". How would you solder up an adapter so you don't have to solder to the main wire itself? I can't picture it in my head.

I wouldn't solder any more connectors, it just adds a failure point to a place you won't ever need to disconnect anyway.

I got my hw sensors from the Aussie importer of hobbywing, can't remember their name right now, but lookup hobby wing website and find Aussie distributor, send them an email and get some.

OK so I emailed both Hobbywing dealers in Australia and here are their replies:
1 - "We do not stock this product. We can only buy Spektrum RPM sensors that suit Spektrum Radios."

2 - "Rpm sensor we do not manufacture maybe you need to contact hobbyking"

Useless I tell you. What's the point of being a dealer for a brand if you won't get their stock in....

I cut off the plastic shrink tube off the ESC and Sensor.

Soldered on the correct wire for the power and signal side of the sensor then heat shrinked it. Soldered the motor connections of the sensor to the ESC. Put it all in new shrink tube.

Well doesn't look like the Australian dealers want to help. Guess I'll take my business overseas!
