Question Boto Sizer or Options for my N7

I purchased a N7 to join the Synergy family but I am stuck. The build is practically complete but I cannot locate a ball link sizing tool to save my life.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

If you have an extra ball, carefully cut an edge into it and you can use that. Just make sure that it's a clean edge with no burrs.

+1, that's what I did and works great.

Chuck it into a drill or dremel. Doesn't take much so be careful, especially with a high speed rotary tool like a dremel. Literally a second or two with one of those. (Use the drill if you have it )

You can also just squeeze the links while on the ball. This will loosen them enough to move freely. I use a ball link plier.

All these tricks do work and work well. The squeeze also works with these links but you will be doing it again in two weeks are so .

For the T/R control rods I strongly suggest you resize the links and get those silky smooth.

I tried using the Boto sizer... It took too much meat leaving my links way too loose... Granted it was my first time ever trying to size ball links... I didn't like it.. Ended up getting new links for the entire bird... I just let mine wear in...

You do have to loosen the screw in the end when they are new or it can cut too much. I have wasted a couple links learning mine for sure. But it's worth it, particularly on the tail control rod and pitch links.

I think I got mine from Ralph at FLB Rotors, and it was set, I didn't have to do anything to it.

I backed the screw out till the tension was off, then screwed it back in just a bit, till I felt some resistance.

It took only a turn or two with the Boto sizer to get the links to size after that.

After doing most of the links in the build, I tightened it just a hair more, to get the last ones.

Careful, as I found out its easy to overdue it and end up with sloppy balls

I have used several different brands of ball link sizers over the years and the Boto sizer has worked the best. They are reamers and are all adjustable so yes you have to start small (very little tension on the set screw) and work your way up until you have it set correct for the links. I do one at a time and once the sizer is set I will only do a few twists in a new link and test the fit on a ball then maybe one more until I have the fit I want. Even when set if you do a bunch of twisted in the link it will cut oversize . Slow and carful will produce perfect fitting links that within a half dozen flights will have zero slop and very little friction . The old measure twice cut once deal
